That’s a surprise, not seen that anywhere. I know that his defence team had to supply a defence statement by the middle of October, but not the bail bit. If he’s had bail, it’s been given by a Crown Court judge.

A Google search returns very little info on Mr Jones' bail, which must have been granted in October. All I have found so far is an FOI request and delaying response. Is it fair to infer that the media has been discouraged from publicising the grant of bail? OFFICIAL Data Rights PO Box 313 Sidcup DA15 0HH Email: xxxxxxxxxx@xxx.xxxxxx.xx www.met.police.uk Your ref: Our ref: 01/FOI/24/040934/Z 24/10/2024 Dear J Graham Freedom of Information Act 2000 Acknowledgement - Reference: 01/FOI/24/040934/Z I write in connection with your request for information which was received by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 23/10/2024. I note you seek access to the following information: I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act regarding the recent case involving Councillor Ricky Jones, a member of the Labour Party, who has been released on bail following his controversial comments suggesting that "throats should be cut." Specifically, I would like to obtain the following information: Details regarding the circumstances of Ricky Jones' arrest and subsequent release on bail, including any conditions attached to his bail. Any documentation or reports related to the decision to grant bail, including the rationale behind this decision. Information on any similar cases within the same timeframe, particularly concerning individuals arrested and charged for less severe offences who were not granted bail. I believe this information is in the public interest, given the serious nature of the statements made by Councillor Jones and the apparent disparity in the treatment of different individuals in similar legal situations. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. MP02/24 OFFICIAL OFFICIAL Your request will now be considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act). You will receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act. Due to an increase in the volume of work received by Data Rights we regret to inform you that we have fallen behind in our processing and are experiencing delays. We can assure you we are working as fast as we can to process your request and we are looking into ways to increase our staffing to accommodate the increase of work received by the MPS. If you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please contact us at xxxxxxxxxx@xxx.xxxxxx.xx, quoting the reference number above. Should your enquiry relate to the logging or allocations process we will be able to assist you directly and where your enquiry relates to other matters (such as the status of the request) we will be able to pass on a message and/or advise you of the relevant contact details. Labour MPs on 09:16 - Nov 8 with 662 views | AnotherJohn | Re Ricky Jones, an AI search on bail just says: "He is scheduled to return to court for a bail application on a date that has yet to be set". This seems to be out of date. So not a lot on the web.
Labour MPs on 10:10 - Nov 8 with 640 views | Boundy | No real surprises here except there are no real surprises. " The government chose the immediate aftermath of the US election to release a list of ministers’ interests that demonstrates how wedded they are to the unions. The 76-page document covers all 111 ministers and reveals no less than 100 are members of at least one trade union. That means nine in ten members of the government belong to a union. Ministers’ most popular union was GMB with 56 members, followed by Unite with 31, Unison with 27, Community with 24 and USDAW with 20. Commentators pointed out not one is a member of the National Farming Union, however. Notable exceptions include Jess Phillips, junior minister in the Home Office, despite her singing unions’ praises in the Guardian and on Twitter. Another is Luke Pollard, a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the MoD. The Labour MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport curiously has no trade union memberships listed despite claiming: “I am proud to be a Trade Union backed Member of Parliament, and a member of the GMB and Unite the Union” on his website, dated January 2024. Lord Timpson, Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice, is another one of ten government members not in a union, as is Jim McMahon OBE, Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, though he has called for “a strong role for our trade unions.

At least the document had been published and we have done transparency about who and what. The last government failed to disclose gifts, interests etc for government ministers between November 23 and when they were voted out in July. No info on freebies, gifts, etc etc, and no transparency. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Labour MPs on 22:11 - Nov 8 with 496 views | Dr_Winston | Of course Labour are in hock to the trade unions. It's their entire reason for existing, just like the Tories exist to support those with a bit of cash or who want a bit of cash and Plaid Cymru exist to support those who smell a bit funny and hate anyone who doesn't live on the same side of the street as they do.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Not sure where this is from but it just sounds like rabble raising right wing propaganda. Trade unions fund the Labour party, they are hugely interlinked I don't think the government have chosen to release this at any particular time, whoever published it has though. So they can say " the government chose the immediate afternoon etc"

The red rentier? Given Contro's interest in Russian history, he should read up on the fate of the kulaks. Potted definition from Wiki for anybody interested: "kulak became a vague reference to property ownership among peasants who were considered hesitant allies of the Bolshevik Revolution." The kulaks did not fare well when the Soviets brought in a policy of de-kulakisation" from around 1929.

It seems perverse that you can execute an estimated 400,000 for being 'wealthy peasants'.

I've never stated Russia was utopia, It has been a brutal country in the past, but is that any different to this country. Industrial workers in the cities didn't exactly have in easy. Shipping off petty criminals to outposts of the empire. The treatment of the Irish during the famine. Tens of millions died In India. Let's not forget our war against the Boers or the Zulus.Let's get things in perspective here

All I am saying is that back in the day people like yourself, with two or three private dwellings to rent out, may not have had a great life expectation.
