Vipupnik on 19:33 - Oct 20 with 3370 views | Whiterockin | I'm starting to think that buying cheap players from abroad is not working. Yes there are a couple of successes but we have some really poor buys. First we had, they need time to get fit and get up to speed, but to me they look very poor. The recruitment team have been promising great things from "scouring the world for talent" but it is a major fail in my opinion. The championship is a very tough league and we need players who can adapt to it, so far recruitment has failed in my opinion.

Thank god for Cullen then, Vipupnik is looking like another of these dud's we've bought, Ronald is frustrating and one dimensional, Bianchini is another missed a tap in yesterday apparently, Eom and Franco look ok, Peart-Harris is young so jury is out. [Post edited 20 Oct 20:02]

He will never ever make a striker, he hasn't a clue of what he should be doing in that role. Might make a player somewhere else on the park, but no chance as a striker.

Cullen would be a squad player at most championship clubs. Play 20 minutes here and there, cup games. Cover injuries in a couple of positions. He’s the main man here and that speak volumes. I thought Vipotnik was going to usurp him after a couple of games, but that looks fanciful now.

That maybe the case, but he's all we got to play up top. there's no goals in this team that much seems evident Cullen has scored two league goals Vip got one, cooper got one and a couple more have scored one apiece 8 all together and we are 10 games in. [Post edited 20 Oct 22:14]

That’s what I mean. He’s our best striker at the moment and that’s a real worry. We’re at a disadvantage in quality as well as numbers

Scouting the world. I wonder if they’ve visited the Maldives…or Trinidad and Tobago lately? Maybe another European wine region to check out the Dr Martin League European Division looking for a bargain striker or two?

The championship is a tough league, it's physical, the games are relentless and a midweek game away in winter isn't everyone's cup of tea. It is probably easier to scout a player who has the ability to play in the league but harder to judge whether they have the physicality and mentality to play in it. Every transfer is a gamble but overseas ones, whilst inevitably cheaper, have a higher risk to them.
Vipupnik on 08:59 - Oct 21 with 2540 views | Legend83 | I think people need to temper their expectations of this kid. I can't deny I was reasonably excited at the prospect of getting a Slovenian international striker who's initial stats suggested he had goals in him. But the facts are: - He is only 22 so barely into his prime as a striker - He has played 128 hours of professional football - sod all basically - So far in his career he has a record of one goal in every 172 minutes played, so roughly a goal every other game - a pretty decent conversion rate... For comparison, Cullen's record is a goal every 208 minutes (265 minutes in the Championship) and Piroe for us scored a goal every 173 minutes. So far for us Zan has scored only one goal in 489 minutes of play which is clearly terrible, but in mitigation we know how hard it is to be a striker in this current Swansea team. Frankly, Zan is a backup/"potential" striker at this level being asked to share the role of flagship striker with Cullen. He is clearly not a player who is going to hit the ground running and make an instant impact. This is fully on the owners and the management team. I for one will be managing my expectations, hoping he develops well over the next couple of years, and getting behind him every time he plays.

Stats can be misleading, wasn't he a professional footballer last season starting 25 times in Ligue 2. For me he is not doing the basics right and until he does that he is a waste of a squad place.

Bottom line is we have sourced three duds,Yates,,the Uke,Vip to go with Cullen. Four duds That said, they don’t really get much of a feed ,given the way we play The way we play is what kills us

Put the player Kukharevych and Vipotnik are supposed to be in there and we’ll create more chances. Strikers need to create space to be fed. In fairness to Kukharevych, I’m guessing there was something going on behind the scenes because he never got a chance. Neither Cullen nor Yates are ever going to work up front on their own.

We shouldn’t have loaned him out if we weren’t going to replace him with better. He didn’t do well here and doesn’t appear to have done much at Derby. We could at least play one of them behind Vipotnik if he was here though. They won’t do it, it would be a public admission of how shambolic that side of the club is.

Morning and a good post . Exactly what it’s about Yates started ok then looked forlorn. As have others It’s why I believe it’s down to our pace I think the players feel and look lost . The endless passing backwards a sure sign . Tymon has become awful and he’s not a bad player at all.
