Oh there are rules it's just that some countries don't obey them. Hamas and Hezbollah are not countries just terrorist groups and they never obey rules.

It was a United Nations force that stopped the Chinese and USSR backed invasion of South Korea by North Korea communist forces. Despite the North Korean forces vastly out number United Nations forces the invasion was stopped and the North Korean forced forced out of South Korea.
No peace treaty was ever signed. Democratic South Korea has boomed while North Korea has abandoned communism in favour of a dictatorships . North Korea has one of the worst standards of living in Asia. | |

The support for various groups crosses divides but in reality Russia and Israel are toxic soul brothers. Both atrd in the business of stealing land and repopulating the stolen land with their own like minded people. Both gave dubious historical justifications. Both are comfy with large civilian losses.
Peace can only come when Israel stops planting it's people on stolen land. It is a 100 year process for them.. Violence actually speeds up changing the demographic proportions.
In reality as solution with Palestine (river to the sea) is not they difficult to establish. The problem is not the Jewish settlers in the West Bank the problem is the Jewish settlers refusal to living in a Palestinian majority state.
This also can be solved by diplomacy and the formation of a secular government working within strict guidelines. The British are good at this sort of thing.
The protagonists are equally bad. Likud are as bad as Hamas and worse than Rafah who notionally run the West Bank. Get the main protagonists out of the way and a solution can be found. Throw big money at it. All most Palestinians want is a small house and a garden and long lasting peace.
Some Israeli do not want peace but continuous was with flare up and iterative land gains just like the Russians. |  |
