True you will always get others to fill the job, but if they were as good as the ones they would be replacing they would already have the job. Are suggesting that you don't care if the best move on, previously known as the brain drain, as long as it fits your thinking. If you want good public services like schools, hospitals, police, army, social care, transport, and even your money grabbing royals then people need to willingly contribute their fair share.

No tax dodging loopholes, and the rich (over £100,000 ?) pay the share they can pay.

The easily led Brexit voting working class still dont realise that avoiding taxes for the rich was a huge part of the unsaid but obvious Brexit ambition.

And you clearly lack certain knowledge to make that tax claim. EU rules allowed corporations to avoid tax by using EU sanctioned tax havens like Luxembourg and the ROI.

The European commission wanted to change these rules but they had tremendous push back from members who kept vetoing the bill. It was being in the EU that helped tax avoidance.

Now I'll ask you to think, if you are rich and getting heavily taxed, what do you do, remain in situ and keep poaying OR move somewhere with a lower tax take?

The stats are out there for everyone to read. The tax take in this country is at a record high. The reason this country is strapped for cash is because of the stupid decisions made by various governments of all persuasions during the last four decades or so.

We can keep taxing people til the pips squeak to King John levels but it will make absolutely no difference until governments stop spunking huge amounts of money away on stupid vanity projects, ideological nonsense and other pointless ventures.

Yes Brexit was predicted to be a huge disaster and it has been.

Pandemic contract awards are being looked into.

Depends what you class as “smart” though. Musk in some ways is borderline genius. What he lacks is real life experience and it shows.

Trump is sharp witted, he is savvy and is undoubtedly a performer but he doesn’t seem to have much knowledge about anything. Certainly wouldn’t describe him as stupid, more ignorant. He’d be a nightmare in a pub quiz.

A post I totally agree with. Some of these rich people and many of these corporations are nothing but a parasite or parasites on worldwide society.

If they want to create more jobs then they need to turn the clock back to small local shops because supermarkets are fuelling unemployment now using technology.

That could have the welcome effect of cutting pollution and improving peoples health, if we went back over to buying fresh food without all that plastic, people walking a few hundred yards a few times a week instead of driving miles or having it delivered.

It's an idealogical fantasy of course, it'll never happen.

In the same way as a solar panel on every roof will never happen despite the obvious advantages because it would take money away from the rich.

Greed is indeed a bad thing. And so is hiking taxes beyond a point that rich people will willingly pay. They can afford to move to another country, can you?

Musk is probably on the spectrum somewhere. There doesn't seem to be much of a filter between his brain and his mouth sometimes, a lack of awareness of the consequences of what he says.

As far as his "intelligence" goes, it's pretty laughable that people think you can achieve what he has achieved by being an idiot. What he does seem to be very good at is coming up with the concepts, and more importantly, hiring and working with the right people to make them a reality. He's a bit like Steve Jobs in that regard.

For example, what we saw yesterday with the booster being caught by the launching tower was by every report I've seen Musk's idea. It was impossible at the time he thought of it, but people working for him made it a reality.

Apparently there is a school of thought in lots of Silicone Valley companies that the best way to develop stuff is to just put it out there. You can learn a lot more from failures than endless checking and testing. It's one of the reasons why so many early SpaceX missions end in a big bang, but they're racing ahead of other companies in the same field. NASA have been left behind.

I have paid my share of tax, don't worry about that. 45 years of PAYE, I now self assess every year as i'm retired. I write some off on maintenance , insurance etc, which is all above board.

I don't know why you had this this little dig at me, but I hope it clears up any misunderstanding.
