I take it you mean Grimes who is not everyone's choice, but I would say the reason he is highly rated by all his managers is he adapts his game slightly to do exactly what they want. An example is Williams wants his full backs high up the pitch as often as possible. Cabango and Darling then split to cover the pitch incase of a counter attack and Grimes as DM drops into the gap in the middle. I can understand some not seeing this on TV but at matches I'm sure you see it. Its one of the reasons Grimes will not be dropped to accommodate Eon in the middle. Franco is an excellent acquisition in the centre of midfield but I don't think he can do the defensive role Williams appears to want. |
As you say Grimes has a number good qualities that his experience affords him but managers have also had to realise his deficiencies and have had change roles that he has been given and have had to build a team around him, I really dislike the term defensive midfielder because it undermines some of his better attributes. |  | | |

Chrisitie would be a good back up to key.
Surly Kyle will hang his boots up at the end of the season.
So this could be cover for that position in the team, kicking the can down the road for another year at least.
With that bit of the budget free hopefully Ben or Harry will get a new contract 🤞
Also Cyrus would be a good game closer older head on his shoulders.
The only other logical explanation I could think of is get Cyrus in and that other massive wage LB Pederson/Toe could be on the move in January .
As we know this will all come down to money.
