The illegal immigration capital of Europe? on 08:42 - Oct 9 by 1983 | Actually yes they come with travel warrants that they hand into the ticket office in exchange for free train tickets and I've seen umpteen young males like them dressed in brand new Lonsdale & Slazenger clothing walking around like it's the middle of winter with no particular place to go If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck... Racist?? You'll have to do better than that! [Post edited 9 Oct 10:31]

The illegal immigration capital of Europe? on 16:20 - Oct 9 by SullutaCreturned | Now I don't entirely disagree with you but where you are wrong is, this isn't the start. This isn't anywhere near the start. This kind of talk has been going on for close on 30 years it's just that 30 years ago more people saw it for what it was. Now as people age and die and they are replaced by the new born, those new born go to school to be indoctrinated. I argued with a primary school teacher about it, she was telling my son (his whole class) what to think. It just happened that I agreed with her, she was slating Don Trump. The thing was that she gave no evidence, she just told the whole class Trump is bad. My son came home repeating that and I asked him why he thought so, his answer was "miss said so" and I had a small rant about thinking for himself, looking at the evidence and not believing something because a teacher told him, or anyone told him come to that. I even told him that it was fine to disagree with me as long as he had evidence. The thing today is, even when you do online searches the results are filtered. Google puts what they want you to see at the top and you have to scroll through endless pages to find differeing opinions. Even on here there are things we cannot dicuss in case the charity doesn't like it. Different opinions are not tolerated. It's cancel culture and students love it, thye practice it regularly in Universities, they ban speakers or cause such a ruckuss the uni cancels the speech. Freedom of speech, demoracy, if they ever really existed they are hardly ever allowed anymore. |
You make valid observations about the ongoing nature of this phenomenon. I totally agree and have said many times that discussions about societal control and indoctrination have been around for decades, and many people were more aware of these tactics in the past. As generations shift, there seems to be a growing acceptance of unchallenged narratives, especially in educational settings. Your experience with the primary school teacher highlights a critical issue: the influence of authority figures on young minds. It's concerning when students are presented with opinions as facts without supporting evidence. Encouraging critical thinking and questioning sources is essential for fostering independent thought, and I for one commend you for instilling that in your son. Moreover, the filtering of information online poses a significant barrier to accessing diverse viewpoints. It’s frustrating when search results are manipulated to prioritise certain narratives over others, making it difficult to find balanced discussions but they are out there, you just have to filter the rubbish. You’re also right about the current climate of cancel culture and the suppression of differing opinions. This trend is prevalent in universities and beyond, where dissenting voices are often silenced. The principles of free speech and democracy, if they ever existed fully, are increasingly under threat. Engaging in open, respectful dialogue is crucial for a healthy society, and it’s concerning, especially for the younger generation, that this is becoming harder to achieve. And it makes a change actually agreeing on something [Post edited 10 Oct 11:33]

This has been going on for a lot longer than 30 years. It's been going on in some form or another since humans evolved and exploded as religion developed. Freedom of speech is allowed, it's when that is based on either no evidence or misrepresented evidence a problem arises. Especially when it can then by accessed by billions of people. That sort of sums Trump and conspiracy theorists up. It's a bit ironic that your post is in response to someone who does this very thing. Democracy exists too, but most people don't take part in it. That's how we've ended up with the current system.

Yes pretty much its hard to ignore seeing as I actually work at the train station, free travel warrants are given to illegal immigrants with a code on that travel warrant relating to the reason why that warrant was issued. I have issued 100's of these in the last 24 months, then there will be an OAP who has lived and worked in the UK all their lifes contributing to the economy and the growth of the country paying in 10p & 20p because they are skint.. What a horrible right wing Nazi racist scum I am. [Post edited 10 Oct 19:09]

Now then, freedom of speech isn't being allowed. That's what cancel culture is. You can be factually correct and still denied your voice. Of course, back when religions started more often than Grimes starts for the Swans, the cancelling often meant torture and death for blasphemy. Uni's have cancelled speeches by politicians because a small but noisy group of students kick up a fuss. Maybe it's more accurate to say society has reverted to the dark ages when indoctrination was everything and religious eaders could even control a monarchy. Freedom of speech is a myth, you are only free to speak as long as you are not saying something that the rich and powerful don't like. The conspiracy nutjob accusation is thrown around every day, say something that goes against a narrative and you are ridiculed. For example, dare to say global warming may be about more than mankind or even that the UK is wasting it's time and OUr money chasing net zero and you egt pounced on. Dare to suggest that covid vaccines have been causing problems....

He will do at least 15 years mate. I see the minimum sentence, but can’t believe the govt will apply any form of parole conditions after eight years.

There seem to be a constant trickle of such cases. From initially opposing withdrawal from the ECHR, I now think Sumption is correct and we should duplicate the key provisions in our own UK Human Rights Act, thus removing the UK from the jurisdiction of the foreign court, which keeps moving the goalposts. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/tv/albanian-murderer-wins-right-to-stay-
The illegal immigration capital of Europe? on 09:52 - Oct 12 with 536 views | AnotherJohn | Another story from today is that there is controversy about attaching an electronic tag to the medical records of overseas visitors (a category applied to some migrants) so that NHS charges due can be recovered. According to rights groups and even many doctors this puts patient privacy at risk. Aren't they aware that in other countries source of funding for private treatments, or even treatments provided in mainly social health insurance schemes, will be flagged in patient records? This even happens with my NHS dentist. Is there a kind of UK exceptionalism where we glory at being number one in the soft touch stakes? https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/plans-for-digital-nhs-tag-for-overseas-pat
The illegal immigration capital of Europe? on 11:15 - Oct 12 with 505 views | felixstowe_jack | Another figure released recently shows the population of the UK increased by 1 million in the last year nearly all due to immigration. Another shocking figure is that the number of patients registered with GP is 5 million more than the population of the UK. Either doctors are claiming for excess patients or the current UK population figures are totally inaccurate.

New arrivals would be healthier than the natives. I don't see many beer bellies coming off these boats. Younger too.

You might think this, but most irregular migrants come from countries where public health services are quite limited. So low vaccination rates, high prevalence of tobacco use, higher rates of mental health problems (according to some Scandinavian research), and the odd case of communicable disease. It is also the case that where women and children do arrive (a minority) maternal and child health services have the highest rates of utilisation after services/treatments for older people.

My comment was about illegal immigrants. The trend in the last few years as the recent OBR report stated is towards a higher proportion of people not in work or unskilled migrants in low paid jobs. Additionally, the issues I was mentioning generally translate into chronic illness some years after arrival. The bullet points in your article include: *Migrant workers in low-skilled jobs were more likely to say that they had a long-term limiting health problem than those in high-skilled occupations. *Migrants who have lived in the UK for longer are more likely to have health problems than those who arrived recently, even when comparing people in the same age groups. In the past I have posted references to several European studies that show high rates of psychiatric illness in certain migrant populations. All I am saying is that despite the supposed benefits of young age there are certain negative aspects too. [Post edited 12 Oct 17:15]

The state of the health of illegal immigrants would be unknown as they don't register for the NHS The migrants you are referring to are not illegals. It's universal though, that those in low skilled low paid have worse health outcomes than those in higher income jobs

Au contraire, I made the group I was referring to clear in my first sentence: "most irregular migrants come from countries where public health services are quite limited." Incidentally, the data used by the Oxford group (your link) for foreign-born persons (of whom only a minority are irregular immigrants) are self reported data. For example, they state that only 5% report serious mental health problems compared with 10% of UK-born persons. What one really needs is utilisation data on actual service use. This leaves me unsure about validity of the findings. Work in Germany shows that immigrants (i.e. in this case both legal and illegal immigrants) have poorer health than nationals. Becker J, Faller G. Workload and health of workers with a migrant background. Bundesgesundheitsblatt - Gesundheitsforschung – Gesundheitsschutz. 2019;62(9):1083–91. 10.1007/s00103-019-02992-0. 10.1007/s00103-019-02992-0 Brand T, Samkange-Zeeb F, Ellert U, Keil T, Krist L, Dragano N, Jöckel K-H, Razum O, Reiss K, Greiser KH, Zimmermann H, Becher H, Zeeb H. Acculturation and health-related quality of life: results from the German National Cohort migrant feasibility study. Int J Public Health. 2017;62(5):521–9. 10.1007/s00038-017-0957-6. 10.1007/s00038-017-0957-6 Brzoska P, Ellert U, Kimil A, Razum O, Sass AC, Salman R, Zeeb H. Reviewing the topic of migration and health as a new national health target for Germany. Int J Public Health. 2015;60(1):13–20. 10.1007/s00038-014-0617-z. 10.1007/s00038-014-0617-z One would imagine, given the influx of non-European migrants into Germany under Merkel, that the demographic profile is more similar to that of our own recent irregular migrants. Of course, those who make themselves known to the UK authorities are entitled to the full range of NHS services. Those who don't are entitled to A & E, treatment of communicable diseases, GP treatment at the discretion of the GP, and given the lax state of recording and charging overseas visitors (the problem the electronic tags in patient records is meant to mitigate) might anyway get other treatments without paying in some cases.
