Interesting to see these two troublesome players win the game for Plymouth against Blackburn, our next game . Rooney must be very tolerant or simply a better manager than some think .

Same reason , Vincent Kompany Scott Parker, Ralph Hasenhüttl and Neil Harris either shipped Obafemi out, or had massive disciplinary problems with him.

Which shows Rooney might not be “ the worst manager of all time” Football eh

Rooney was at Derby when he sold him to Swansea He presumably did not rate him that highly. He does now.
I compare Potter and McBurnie and Martin and Whittaker. I doubt Potter was delighted about McBurnie and his frequent illnesses. He talked about OMcB and his adjustment from gangly teenager to professional footballer. He played him got results and he got sold for a whopping £20m.
Martin on the other hand did not give a fig for Whittaker and simply blocked him out devaluing the player and demoralizing him leading to disrespectful behaviour. He was sold for a fraction of his true value .
I say again, Whittaker’s lack of professionalism started this cycle. He was given chance after chance. I have documented evidence from start to finish. That’s why he, his agent, anyone at Swansea has never challenged it.

It could well be His appointment at Plymouth was ridiculed.,let’s not forget . “Worst manager ever” etc. Football makes us all look like jerks,at times . Whittaker is a match winner Obefemi not so but he might have got his head down
Whittaker , this season admittedly , 10 games 2 goals no assists. Obafemi 7 games 1 goal . Don’t see much evidence of Rooney making a massive impact in respect of these two .

Obafemi scored his first goal for Plymouth on his 7th appearance yesterday.
With that scoring record, I wonder what would be written, if he was still with us ??
Maybe his performances have been good which is why he was still picked?
To be honest, all managers have had difficult players. Some got kicked out, some got managed into being better. I won't disagree that Oba and Whitts were a nuisance down here and at other clubs but maybe, just maybe, they needed managing better?
Alex Ferguson, Clough nor Tosh would not have put up with their antics. Spoilt children is all they are. Agents aren't helping, persuading them they are so much better than they are and deserve so much more. It's ruining them.

I accept t your words about his lack of professionalism. I have argued that Ollie McB had the same lack of professionalism which Potter alluded to
Potter covered this up and got £20m for him. Martin did not cover up for Whitaker and got pennies. for Swansea. Cullen is a model professional but cannot score like Whittaker can.
It is not a training school for fine young men,
Wise sage since Toshack era

Nobody covered for Oli McB - every man and his dog knew what went on outside the club, and it followed him to Sheff Utd and beyond.
Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

He refused him a professional chance due to his unprofessional attitude.
The disrespect started with the player. Piroe was the same in the first few weeks, but his dad got ahold of him and told him to grow up. He told me. Look at our reports of that time.

Whoever the coach is some find fault and continually bang on about it. I'm just glad we get coaches who are not an absolute disaster, apart from the odd one. I have never known so many coaches turn us down as there have been with the current owners, it seems decent coaches won't touch us with a barge pole. Strange though that in the main our ex coaches go on to better things even when our supporters don't rate them.

That’s because results define the coach and his job The buck stops with him He selects the team and tactics. He trains the players He oversees injuries He motivates players He wins and gets praise He loses and gets stick Coaches accept this At least good ones do and do so without making excuses

Yeah, the truth does get in the way at times
With the players he has. Do you believe we have enough quality players to be higher up the league than we are, particularly attacking options.

Yes. But not much because of paucity of forwards If he hadn’t sanctioned the signings and the loans and they were foisted onto him,I would have walked ,if him. Plenty of clubs wouod take him on if he’d marketed himself right ,as others do . We have actually too many midfielders and are unbalanced . I’d actually nail my colours to the mast and use my coaching skills to improve the players Coaches coach ,or should do

Result wise he’s doing exceptionally well. I’d imagine we’ve got more points than the vast majority would have predicted on the first day of the season.
Thirteen teams worse off than us. Every single one of them will have better striking options than us and more than one loan player covering centre back.
It looks and feels like it should be more because we’re drawing games we should be winning. That’s going to happen in a squad with no real goalscorers.

That's all very true and yet another example of our owners letting yet another coach down, making promises they never keep and being guilty of the managed decline in the quality of our squad.

This afternoon Rooney talked about Whitaker on TalkSport. The great season which he is having for Plymouth and that Derby sold him to Swansea as they were in administration at the time and needed the money. From 3:28 onwards

If Steve Cooper is ever on TalkSport I would hope he gives the real story about Victor Gyokeres......... [and not the story which is sometimes pushed on this forum by those who rely on WOL old stories].
