Swansea City v Stoke City : Match day thread on 14:47 - Oct 6 by Whiterockin | It's strange that the criticism seems to be on message boards, but supporters in the ground seem more tolerant and accepting of what the coaching staff and players are trying to do. There was also a lot of support for Tymon yesterday. |
Personally I have never shouted abuse or negative chants at the team inside the ground. I have moaned about them in the pub, on whatsapp and on here because that's what I think support is, get behind them on the pitch and sort the rest out afterwards. Booing the players on the pitch isn't going to help but voicing your concerns afterwards is only fair enough, as long as those concerns are demonstrably valid. I agree it's not Abdullai's fault but I will still moan that he's not a winger and we need to try something else. Give an U21 a shot, why not. Sometimes when your hand is forced good things happen. I don't know why Tymon wouldn't have got support, the own goal was unfortunate but hardly deliberate. All of us make mistakes. At least Tymon tries and he is usually reliable. I guess he was due a cock up. I think the lower crowds are a mixture of everything and our start hasn't helped, if we'd made a very good start the missing fans would have returned. I didn't renew but we have been to 3 home games and gone away 3 times too. My son is still keen and when I said no season tickets I promised more away games. If the owners had learned from their mistakes, if we didn't have square pegs in round holes, if the last 3 years hadn't been what they have been, if there were no big cost of living issues etc, etc...it's not just one thing and I will include in that list the very real effect that greed is having too, I know a few long term fans who are like me, dismayed with the greed in modern football and falling out of love with the game that is hijacked by greed. A lot of players have said it's not about the money when the reality is, no matter how much some get paid, they still want more and the big clubs are pricing ordinary fans to the hilt and beyond. WHY? So EPL squad members can get 60k per week and guaranteed starters can get over 250k per week. If not for my son I wouldn't be going at all. That is a virus that I feel is spreading and the debt levels in non EPL clubs is rising as they chase the dragon that is promotion, that is a drug that will cause many teams financial problems in the near future.

Watching Brighton right now is invigorating and thought provoking Here is a team,a club that was literally homeless and aimless It gets taken over and a new world bursts through the horizon. Fans need e cite ent and will pay for it. Many folk lead boring humdrum lives punctuating by hurt and dismay. Football is an antidote Not for nothing are fans dressed in club shirts as they get blown to the Dust Bowl not have club crest on their grave . It means a lot They will pay, they will travel ,they will go without to see them We make excuses for the unacceptable ,which is what we have now Brighton ,Brentford and afc Bournemouth, for Gods sake , strutting their stuff We have been conditioned to second best, failure or the mediocre because we are really told we don’t belong much higher . Williams has said as much This is why he shouldn’t be at the club as well as the owners We need a football enema

Swansea City v Stoke City : Match day thread on 14:06 - Oct 6 by RichardO | We seem to have on the right a quality winger Ronald and a player in Key who would be suited to a wingback role they are not hitting it off together at the moment I think when Williams finds the correct setup on that side we could do some serious damage. The same could be said about the ability to cause damage on the left I wonder if it would be better for Cooper to drop deeper in to the midfield, Eom to play in a role closer to our centre forward leaving Tymon to play a more advanced wingback role, at times the three get in similars roles with their rotation but the number of times our wings are overloaded with our own players are on top of each other and their path on the touchline block by both their own players and the opposition defenders and they need a clearer path down the wings with defenders being moved about more. I think Ronald looked and did better last seaso as Naughton was playing behind him. Yesterday Key drifted further in field and so Ronald had more space I think its only a matter of time before Vip clicks too and then we will do some serious damages to a few teams

Naughton has also been asked to drift into the middle this season I think it limits Ronald 's options from two down to one it also encourages Grimes to have to sit deep even end up in the right back position, I think it over complicates things at times, a wingers primary job is wing play, a fullback job is defence and a midfielders job is the control the midfield all can be used in any of the positions with rotation of play but when teams try and put us under pressure I want players to be able to complete their primary skill properly. Ronald is now a marked man and but it has taken teams usually into the second half to realise they need to counter Eom on the other side putting extra men to double up on him or closing down the lefthand side which should mean gaps should appear elsewhere which so far this season we haven't been able to exploit in that second half.

Bellamy has been at our last two home games. As much as I love Wales, I’m hoping he hasn’t done enough to force his way into contention. He’s had a great start to the season.

I dont playing for Wales and getting injured as a result I’d rather him have a rest. He’s been a warrior for us Wales can manage without

Wouldn’t normally be my stance, but seeing as we’ve only got two centre backs and a loanee who hasn’t featured in the league, I completely agree.

I hate these breaks matey They serve no purpose for our club and are frankly at best an inconvenience . I’ll Dmit to being a chap who never fancied going to all corners of Europe to quaff lager ,be nice to the locals ,sing the anthem ( in tune) and preen myself about supporting my country . I d also rather spend my dosh on my family and not take up my annual leave days . But that’s just me This time around,we have to put up with the scowling visage of our coach ,amongst the most detested in British footballin recent times .

Yeah. Matt certainly has loyal fans He’s clearly idolised by other team coaches too ,so much so,they form an orderly queue for his signature and double his wages . He’s loved because he is so easy to play against . All teams know how he plays All strikers know than he will drop back at some point in the game and pass directly to them . Goalkeepers love him too as even from 12 yards out,he will send the ball, sideways to sone poor bugger already marked . They know his corners will either not beat the first man or will balloon to way past the goal . I they know his free kicks will go over the bar He loves the city though and that’s enough for fandom. He’s kind to animals ,gives to charity, has kids learning welsh and the family cat is called Iestyn . He could preach a sermon, sing Calon Lan in B flat m and bless babies in the crypt . He’s basically God in human form Bless

To be fair I thought he hit the nail on the head many times in that reply. All these compliments from opposing managers, pundits and commentators yet he’s still here and showing no sign of going anywhere. He’s a great pro without doubt and a good player but his style slows us down. I just wish he’d catch a cold or something where LW is forced to try something else and see how that goes.

Grimes is exceptional as a pro. He’s a good role model too. However,he’s the root of why we play slowly. Fans walking away as they are prove my point. It hurts some I know . How did he have a great game ? I mean, really . Did he score Did he make a last ditch tackle Did he deliver a killing cross, corner ,a pass that led to a goal . Did he inspire his team mates Does he help new players into the game I’d say no Did he slow the game Did he pass backwards when chasing the game He did A passer he is. Two three four five, yds,he’s your man ,then he gets the ball back and starts again by which time the opposition are ready and waiting for us
