Swansea City : Will Luke make a statement in his selections tonight ? 2nd Oct 2024 08:00
Swansea City go into this evenings game against Sheffield United (7:45pm) at Bramall Lane in eleventh place in the Championship, that’s mid table. The points dropped from Sunday now having a greater impact on the clubs season right now, and indeed more than we expected prior to the Bristol City draw. 0

I can’t really get my head around all this but what I would say is that any new investor / owner won’t just blindly sign a cheque. They’ll do one hell of a lot of due diligence and surely that woukd show that a European adventure once a year which is by no means guaranteed wouldn’t in any way compensate for the loss of our FL status. Far from it. As the saying goes if they try this, I’ve got a bridge for sale!

On the current relationship between LW and the hierarchy, I may have been asleep at the back of the class but where has this been documented. I’ve absolutely no doubt it is strained but is there definitive evidence of it?

I think European qualification with 6 matches starting early July and then a 46 match league season is football suicide. Surely if we had anyone with influence with football knowledge they would understand this.

Surely if we’re seriously considering this, they’ve done the research and established our EFL status isn’t under threat and won’t be going forward? The cups may be a different thing.

As bad as they’ve been as custodians, they aren’t stupid. They are successful businessmen outside of SCFC

Well you’d like to think so but I won’t take it for granted😏

The optics wouldn’t be good though. Does it mean we wouldn’t be involved in the two major cup competitions or wouldn’t qualify for Europe if we won one of them?

Morning matey
Im not dumb really, although sometimes I act it for @ reason but anyway…
Those saying they knew all along these owners had no real money need to take a look at themselves as ,if they had real business acumen and funds, then they should have got involved in the club instead of bitching from the sidelines .
I recall countless posts of yore with forensically analysed critiques of where we went wrong .

We fell out of the Prem when we shouldn’t have and it still hurts ,or it should.
I read of some who actually wanted us to be back in the championship as they could get tickets easier and sit where they wanted with their chums . I ssss you not

I watch PL highlights of us and weep, almost literally . We belonged . We were respected . We strutted our stuff and beat all the big clubs at some time . Little ol Swansea my backside .

The greatest son was the lack of marketing of the club and I’ve said this before . It was and is inforgivable .

I’m all upset now so Om off down to our glorious sands

Successful and competent football club owners...no.

As PembsJack said, they’d be good at running a supermarket chain probably but useless at running a football club. They had no clue when they took over and have learnt nothing if anything since then.

Enjoy the walk.

Oh I agree. Their tenure has been disastrous and I can’t wait for them to sell up.

This is almost on a par with people believing they didn’t think we could get relegated from the PL because MLS clubs don’t though. Whether they stay or sell, the vast majority of income comes directly or indirectly from being in the EFL

It’s all about to whom they sell, isn’t it.
We can just hope
I don’t see us as an unattractive proposition at all.
Has our club potential for an investor .
Yes it has .
We have a fan base battered and fed negative tripe for too long and brown beaten into accepting mediocrity
It’s time to change this
New owners, could see an immediate response from our fan base and the atmosphere and our swank would return

Yes it’s a step into the unknown. The next owners could be worse.

Based on the last few years though, they’d have to be utterly abysmal to manage that.

But they may well not be
Ok ,plenty around that could be worse but they must be some far better
The disconnect between owners and fans is now significant

Yeah that’s my point. They could be worse but almost certainly won’t.

The chances are our next owners won’t fall out with every manager they appoint and think starting a season with two strikers and two centre backs is acceptable.

Based on where we are now, falling season ticket sales and gates, a stupid transfer window regarding forwards and players contracts running out. I would say take a chance and hopefully the new owners will employ somebody who knows how to run a British football team.

Luke needs to get on with things.

He knew what he was walking into when he took the job.
I assume he and his agent did the due dilligence.
And I would hope Luke would have spoken to Potter/Cooper/Martin and Duff about how the club operates.
