From where we were ,it did sound like the silence was broken ,which soured matters .

Tried two times in the Kop that day. Both times the Swans scored and the friendly happy go lucky scousers weighed into us. Police marched us round the pitch and the final time battered us with truncheons. By end of the game I and my fellow enthusiasts had enough of them. Especially the little fellas in Stanley Park.

i can remember the crew being led away from the kop. |
The mounted at that time were dealing with extremely truculent football folk. Times were different to now . Many clubs had violent firms for whom a good ruck was essential part of the day .
Countering this was down to Police .
A police horse does the work of ten bobbies on foot.
Swansea was no different although in smaller numbers .

No I didn't go to the 8-0 game. Both my sons were coming to games then, and being a night game it wasn't feasible, and being a good dad wouldn't go without them.

Been in Kop loads of times as a young teenager.from about the age of 14, although last I was there, was when Tevez scored the winner for the Red Manc's and at the Kop end, it was a dour trip back home in the minibus though, not been back since our 30th wedding anniversary, good weekend that was, the Wife wanted to do the tour, so we caught a bus up from Town, they had the players tunnel closed off though as they were working off flying carpets [scissors lifts] doing repairs /maintenance and that's the area she wanted to through as well  |  |

The mounted copper with ginger hair, caused that wall to collapse - crushing the fans against the wall with his horse.
Plus he cracked quite a few innocent fans on the head (drawing blood) with his baton/truncheon, that were trapped against the wall and couldn't move to his commands!!
The noise in the minutes silence?? - A Swan's "fan" shouted, "Burn the b@stard" and got quite a few slaps from the supporters around him!! |  |
