Has sadly passed away a colossus of a centre half.

RIP Big Ron

Rock solid from what I saw on film.

There's a photo from the 1965 cup final, of Ron shaking hands with Leeds captain Bobby Collins.

Bobby barely came up to his chest

I'm sure I saw him play against us for Tranmere in the early 70s. It could just be my mind playing tricks.

Fantastic player.

RIP

He does look huge there but apparently he was “only” 6’2. Would be considered an average sized to small defender in today’s game.

He was also 6'2" wide. 😂

Shankley said, it was because of Yeats - Liverpool changed their white shorts to red.

He asked him to put on the red shorts - and told him, "All red, made him look 7ft tall" 😂 - and that's when the colour change happened.

Will be mourned in Dundee where he made 96 appearances for United in the early 1960s. I like the line from the Everton song: "We hate Bill Shankly and we hate St. John, but most of all we hate Big Ron." Another real character has left us. RIP.

RIP Sir , another from my youth now passed. A ‘colossus’ of a man .

Opened up and ran a successful cafe on Old Swan near my shop
Not that big as of now but quite an imposing guy
He was sound
Had a good long life and he made people happy

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

I seen him play once at Liverpool, and as you say I am sure he and Tommy lawrence played in that Tranmere game.

RIP.

I forgot all about 71, one of my first big trips. Up on the football special, remember those. Everton were home on the same day, it wouldn't happen now.

3-0 ...

Tosh scored their first goal, plus 3 future Swans in their lineup.

Ian St John came on as sub and scored - his final goal and game for Liverpool.
