In 2013 86 per cent of people said they were proud of Britain’s history, but this has now fallen to 64 per cent.

Is this a case of demography being destiny?

Not a patch on what we did in the colonies. The Ivans are amateurs in comparison

Russia was a small European country in the mid 1500s before it began its invasion an colonisation of Siberia , the Pacific coast of Asia as well as it invasion on Poland, 1654 where it captured most of what is modern day Ukraine.

It has also colonised various Baltic states and well as many southern Asia muslin States. The Russian empire became the World's third largest empire and still occupies most of the land it conquered.

The Ivans killed millions of people during its invasion as well as millions of Russians during its civil war in 1917. Following Russian dictators like Stalin and Putin killed millions of Russian citizens, stopped free speech. It also has a rigged judicial systems.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

Nope. Free speech and elections are allowed in Russia, they aren't in the Ukraine.

One year Russia arrested 400 for social media comments, Britain arrested 3,300 , with half the population. Let that sink in, if that's possible

I would imagine the thought of spending years in a gulag, puts off many ordinary Russians from posting their thoughts on social media

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Any critism of putin or Russia results in arrest and imprisonment after a show trial.
A ballerina was arrested an imprisoned on a recent visit to Russia. Her crime she donated £20 to a charity providing medical supplies to Ukraine

FREE SPEECH IS NOT ALLOWED IN RUSSIA UNLESS IT SUPPORTS PUTIN AND HIS WAR CRIMES.

NEWSPAPERS AND TV STATIONS WHICH CRITICISE PUTIN ARE CLOSED DOWN.

THERE ARE NO DEMOCRATIC AND FREE ELECTIONS IN RUSSIA. ALL OPPOSITION IS SUPPRESSED.

OVER 1000 POLITICAL PRISONERS IN RUSSIA.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

Once again for those mentally challenged. Russia has 48 opposition parties. They have election with greater turnouts than we do

The UK arrested far more than Russia did for social media comments. They have more rights than we do

How does he do that? Guards are standing over every one of the 90 million who cast their votes to see who they vote for?

If 80% voted for Vlad, why did 20% vote against him if it is not permited?

Interestingly, the law will cover "discredits our democratic intuitions". One or two who post here could well be in the frame for that.

The operative word is "our". If Russia had a similar law you might be in business, rather than standing on the trap door.

Surely it’s a democratic right to be able to criticise our democratic institutions, the useless bunch of bastards.

48 and 42 of them are not represented in the Duma,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_Russia

In there it also says that at least 8 of the parties were formed specifically to support Putin and any politicians that stood against dear old Vlad was either locked up, banned from standing, exiled or met a suspicious death.

This is the freedom of speech that Contro boasts about, exercise this "right" and end up in prison for 12 years, all she did was donate to a charity,

Ok then, if a demcracy doesn't ban political parties then Russia, by your own thoughts, isn't a democracy because they have banned 29 and 26 of those since Putin became President.

These Americans whose opinion I assume you agree with, do they even realise the USA banned the communist party back in 1954 and other parties were refused legitimacy because their stated aim was to take down the government and as such they couldn't swear allegiance to the constitution so they were never allowed to exist, what a crime eh.

Ot is also a fact that countries cancel elections during times of war, in the UK there were elections due in 1916 and 1940 but they were delayed because of the world wars. Ukraine is currently the subject of an illegal invasion by Russia and cannot be expected to try and hold an open, free and fair election at this time, but you know that.

In that article they aso say a democracy doesn't censor the media but the USA...

In 2014, the United States was added to Reporters Without Borders (RWB)'s list of "Enemies of the Internet", a group of countries with the highest level of Internet censorship and surveillance. RWB stated that the US had "undermined confidence in the Internet and its own standards of security" and that "US surveillance practices and decryption activities are a direct threat to investigative journalists, especially those who work with sensitive sources for whom confidentiality is paramount and who are already under pressure".

And then Russia 2 years ago,

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/04/world/europe/russia-censorship-media-crackdow

and last year,

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/07/26/technology/russia-censorship-ukraine-war.html

In Ukraine they have banned 28 parties but only 18 of them since Zelensky became President and ALL of them since the illegal Russian invasion with 15 of them having a Russophile ideology.

Old Vlad and Russia don't come out of that very well, do they?

Don't tell me, it's all fake news

You must have missed the fact that Ukriane is at war , sometimes marital war is imposed or parts of a democracy reduced, all for the greater good.
