Just being discussed on Times Radio now. It seems Athwal's first statement was a bullish denial of any problems,, and then he saw the coverage and changed his tune to become more apologetic. Probably the worst allegation is that he told complainers they would be evicted if they did not shut up.

This demonstrates the very reason why there needs to be strong licensing legislation in the rental sector. He may well be using a management company, but as far as I am concerned that doesn’t cut it. The management company should be sorting the issues out.
Landlords need to have rights to be able to evict troublesome antisocial tenants, but tenants who are paying good money to rent property deserve to live in homes which are of a good standard.
This guy needs to be held to account.

For my money people like this politician should be held to higher rules because they set the rules. As soon as Labour won it should have been obvious that the right wing press would start looking to muck rake so why make it so darned blooming easy for them/
