Luke Williams : ‘We were appalling, I will not accept that’ Peart-Harris ? on 12:14 - Aug 29 by RichardO | If you don't get the ball up the park quick enough how to you expect to put press on teams. No pressure on Wycombe, they didn't have to do a lot to stop any forward momentum we did that all by ourselves. |
Excellent post it's all so slow and pedestrian, Wycombe just put 10 behind the ball second half, and we never looked like breaking them down

Luke Williams : ‘We were appalling, I will not accept that’ Peart-Harris ? on 12:31 - Aug 29 with 1245 views | GVJack | Just watched the interview. "Serious lack of effort is just unforgivable" Well we'll see how "unforgivable" it is when we see the match day squad on Saturday and see how many of those who played last night are in it. I do like Williams, we need to remember that he's still quite inexperienced in relative terms of being a manager/head coach but he needs to learn fast that whilst blind loyalty is a great trait in a relationship, it can cost him his job professionally. Time to wield the axe Luke or it'll be your head on the chopping block!

Luke Williams : ‘We were appalling, I will not accept that’ Peart-Harris ? on 11:48 - Aug 29 by union_jack | Some good points there and ones I agree with re the public facing side. He may well say he wants more but I don’t think he’ll get anything near it. This will allow him to make the excuse that he wasn’t backed properly if/when it all goes TU. |
There is always a possibility that a Manager at Swansea City doesn't get what is needed, squad is still thin and I think he would be right to have a grumble if we don't get atleast a winger(left footed preferably) and an attacking central midfielder atleast. Don't think we could argue if he wasn't happy with only Cullen and Vipotnik as the only recognised striker. There is a line of managers who have oreviously questioned poor or lack of backing at the club.......its an open debate Wether it has been the case or not but he seems to be a pattern now with the last 3 managers before Duff.

Luke Williams : ‘We were appalling, I will not accept that’ Peart-Harris ? on 11:29 - Aug 29 by union_jack | Rayns, I don’t think even the first team would have won. There was a distinct lack of energy and desire that I think may be running through the entire squad. They just didn’t want it. If anything, the team we put out last night should have been busting a gut to impress. I’m not sure LW has the tactical ability to make a successful team at this level but I’m more concerned that he doesn't have enough ability to influence or motivate players and get the best out of them. Attitude is a huge part of sport and it doesn’t matter how good you are, your attitude needs to be turned up to 10 in a competitive situation. |
You cannot start any game of sport literally walking around thinking yiu just have to turn up to win We did just that Wycombe were very professional Wycombe

Luke Williams : ‘We were appalling, I will not accept that’ Peart-Harris ? on 14:19 - Aug 29 with 1129 views | jack247 | Prior to Williams, we’ve had four permanent managers since relegation. Three of them have been vilified for large parts of their time here (all except Potter) Three of them have gone on to bigger and better things (all except Duff) Unpopular opinion I know it will be in the wake of losing at home to Wycombe, but maybe the managers aren’t the problem?

It can't be ignored despite the best efforts of some. We would be in denial to say there is clearly not an issue given the familiar track records of managers who have then gone on and progressed.

It’s a fair point you make but it doesn’t excuse the brand of football we are seeing Stats are used by managers for them to use at their next job interviews They can show their possession stats then blame the owners for not being “ supported” Russ was very shrewd Cooper too ugly Potter too cerebral Duff wasn’t that bad. What killed him eas the derby game and his inane comments prior to us losing However ,that day ,we were no worse than last Sunday Duff will get Huddersfield up,without question

Some strong comments there. No, it doesn’t excuse the way we played last night. Possession stats don’t sway the likes of Brighton and Southampton. If you can see through it, it’s a fair bet their chairmen can. The Cardiff away defeat last season was worlds away from Sunday. We could have been out of sight by half time. We weren’t and a draw was a fair result in the end. We faced a far worse Cardiff team last season and they dominated us. We were absolutely abysmal in that game. If Duff takes Huddersfield up, that adds credence to my point.

It was the same against Cardiff, 1st half , all possesion, no end product, or sign of it, Unless there's a quick turn around we are in for a long hard slog, and atm it looks grim to me no matter what others say.

Decent riposte I’d argue Sundays capitulation was as bad It was inexcusable . We were told lies again by the ci@ch. No the players do not know what it means to the areas ,not most of them anyway. They might pay lip service to such sentiments and mouth the usual drivel but deep down ,they couldn’t give a fork . I’d say only Joe Allen does . I can’t mention our captain anymore as my anger meter is at bursting point Frankly,we look fxxxxkexd

Cooper was the best coach of the post Potters. I hated his football (my main source of dislike), and I wasn't fond of his tendency to only want players he'd worked with before and strop if he couldn't have them, but you can't argue with what he's done elsewhere. Maybe if we'd had the budget to indulge him he would have delivered. But we didn't, which he knew full well. Martin was a waste of two years of our time and effort. Was given everything he needed to mount a playoff challenge in both his seasons here and pissed it away trying to prove how smart he was. Scraping promotion out of the Championship with a Premier League squad is no vindication of him or his methods. He was 100% the problem. Duff was probably the right guy at the wrong time, perhaps for the wrong club. I'd expect him to go on and have a successful career elsewhere. Williams just has to show that he's capable of learning from his mistakes.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Martins vindication was getting the move to Southampton, not what he did while he was there. Duff- maybe but not in the Championship

Sunday, in my opinion at least, he gambled on having them beat before players started to tire and bringing on the likes of Fulton and Naughton to see the game out. Starting Ollie Cooper was a big mistake in my book, not because he played badly, but because he’s exactly the type of player you want running at tired defenders on 70 minutes. The players essentially downed tools and went though the motions in the other game. We weren’t on top for any of it. Straight after that came the meeting with the senior players where Duff swallowed his pride and changed his playing style beyond recognition. For a few games at least.

I mentioned in the matchday thread that at 5 mins we’d not been inside their half, just passing it around the back. In hindsight, we had ventured there once but my point still stands. Absolutely appalling display from start to finish.

I know I’m a pessimistic forkercand have slagged off Cooper ( too ugly) Potter( too bland) Martin too many teeth ) Duff( too dull) and now Williams ….possibly to be proven the worst . Martin Learned ,Potter went after the glory pay and couldn’t blame him,Steve saw his arse and Duff dumped . Williams is getting away with football suicide It’s a tough gig is our club but we deserve better ,even Kent’s like me People, good people no longer with us loved this club all their lives so I’m not having lying bullpooping cretins giving me management speak sheete . Off ya go Lukey ,son

You can’t coach passion and you can’t coach desire. These players shouldn’t be allowed to take the field without either. The real problem with just a couple of players like this will seep through the rest like a dose of clap. I remember a certain Swansea midfielder playing on after an ACL injury against West Ham in the cup nearly thirty years ago. Sheer focus and desire. This modern generation couldn’t hold a candle to those boys - they played with their hearts on their sleeves. Some of ours need electric shock therapy just to get their kit on

They are if they can’t motivate a team for the first and even more clinically the second half . Or continuing to pick a midfield pairing that has never worked - the both should not even get on the bench. Start with Darling as Captain and two out of Franco/Allen/ Abdullai in CM. It may take a few games to gel but it has to be worth trying.

He doesn't want to throw the players under the bus totally in public, many would be moaning on here if he did as they are with this press release. There would be plenty of choice words said yesterday and today for sure. The next 36hrs highlight a need for a no 10, left footed winger and Striker and he said yesterday after the goalkeeper signing that he still wants a few more. |
You’re forgetting a centre midfielder. What’s the point of getting other wingers who won’t get any decent ball??

Darling can be a xoxk but he could inspire and lead. We don’t have my right now Darling needs to grow up . If he can, then he might make a decent chitin. It won’t happen as. Grimes is untouchable Only if he gets injured will he be replaced

It's a combination of things, thcombination of managers wanting to play a certain way, managers chosen by the owners of course. Those owners then go on to not properly bac the managers by giving them the players they need but constantly taking the cheaper options. It has seen the gradual decline of our sqiuad which gets poorer year on year and the owners are clearly too dumb to realise that we'll end up relegated and any chance of profit from us will be gone. All their "investments" will be lost and all we'll be to them then is a tax write off. On the subject of our midfield, I'm pretty certain my opinion of Grimes is well known. All those younger people DrW mentions on X, they all (assuming they're real and not bots) must buy into the idea that possession is everything and having superb passing stats means Grimes is a great player who we'd be lost without. I find myself, somewhat cynically and maybe being mean, hoping and wishing that he gets injured and is out for weeks or months so LW has to try something different because the same old same old is only taking us one way and it aint to the play offs. I'm going to WBA tomorrow, I don't expect much. I can accept losing as long as we turn up and put the effort in. If we capitulate and get a thrashing then the next home gate will be an interesting read. Young people can be hypnotised by stats and blather but a lot of older people will look at it through experienced eyes and be far harsher in their appraisals.
