L’Équipe understands that SC Bastia’s Florian Bianchini (23) is set to join EFL Championship side Swansea City.

Bianchini, a former France youth international, came through the ranks at Amiens SC, before also going on to play for Châteauroux. He then joined Corsican side Bastia on a free transfer at the start of last season before going on to make 30 appearances in all competitions, netting five goals and registering six assists in Ligue 2.

Having helped keep Bastia in France’s second flight last season, Bianchini now looks set to depart. Internal sources have informed L’Équipe that an agreement between the French side and Swansea has been reached, although the value of the transfer has not yet been revealed. It is good news for Bastia, who like many French clubs, needed to make sales this summer.

The midfielder is expected to arrive in Wales in the coming hours to undergo a medical before signing a contract to officially become a Swansea player.

Bastia seem short of cash will want a cash sale. Looks like a permanent deal, at least obligation to buy.

This is turning out to be a decent window.

Wise sage since Toshack era

What is going on in France that so many clubs seem to be struggling financially?

Dont know but its a market we should definitely shop more in now . There are bargains to be had no doubt . West Brom who have similar financial constraints have just strengthened their squad with a French player too.

Without the TV money clubs in this country, which is much more than in France, would be struggling even more than they are now.
