I dont know about banning but there has been talk about the Orthodox church which is subservient to the Russian Orthodox Church. The Russian Orthodox Church is an arm of the Russian State. It's head is an FSB operative, formerely an admitted KGB operative. - so its an act of State Security if they take action against them.
Th media was brought under control as it was mostly run by Oligarchs with agendas of their own. Some were pro Russia operations...so again a legitimate wartime national security issue. Not ideal but there you go.
The opposition parties that were banned were the pro-russian ones, many were headed by actual russian operatives. Many went to Moscow to carry on the pro-russian agenda. One or two acually joined the occupational forces. Others have since been arrested for working for Russia.
