"UKRAINE has obliterated one of Vladimir Putin's prized Black Sea submarines in an impressive attack on occupied Crimea.
Kyiv forces said the prized Kilo-class Rostov-on-Don submarine, worth £275 million, was hit in a strike on the Sevastopol port."
"Ukraine's attack on Friday also “significantly damaged” four of Putin’s ultramodern S-400 air defence systems - worth in total around £2 billion.
Kyiv claimed the missile barrage also targeted four vital launches of Russia's "Triumf" air defence system.
The Kilo-class Rostov submarine - used to fire calibre class missiles on Ukraine - had been hit in September 2023, but was then repaired.
Dramatic pictures showed the gaping hole ripped into its side after a barrage of Storm Shadow missiles bypassed air defence systems to blast naval docks in Sevastopol.
Latest thing is a fairly significant incursion into Kursk by two or three Ukrainian/Russian volunteer forces columns. This will probably just be a temporary push to force Russia to redeploy troops, but is causing a flap on Russian blogger channels. One military blogger writes:
"According to the generalized data of all open sources, the enemy forces, concentrated for the invasion, amounted to several thousand people (including artillerymen and UAV operators in the Sumy region) and dozens of armored vehicles, a couple of SAM systems, several DRGs with MANPADS for ambushing our aviation, footage of the helicopter crash is already being distributed by the enemy. Elite brigades with Bradleys in service were allocated for the invasion. The enemy paid special attention to electronic warfare and evacuation groups, which, as in the spring in the Belgorod region”.
The helicopter shot down was a Russian Ka-52 "Alligator".

It was in dry dock the first time it was hit so it couldn’t have been sunk as you can read from the below article. We await pictorial evidence of the most recent attack, but if she’s gone down we may not get it.
Re the sub, the proof is not yet definitive, but before and after satellite pictures are strongly suggestive of damage. The vessel wasn't in the open sea as repairs were not complete.
Other pictures on a Telegram channel that I cannot link to, show what may be a shadow of a damaged stern protruding just outside the holed and blackened camouflage net.

Ukraine's own "special military operation" in the Kursk region of Russia is proving unexpectedly successful. It seems that the two main lines of Russian defence near the border have been breached and a large area seized. At least 300 Russian soldiers have surrendered.
Is this just a short-term operation to draw Russian military resources away from other parts of the front line, or do the AFU plan to consolidate forces in the area?
Putin has complained to the UN that Ukraine has broken international law by invading Russia.

Yesterday the Ukrainian army started an attack on Russia from the northern Sumy region into the Russian Kursk oblast. Two to three Ukrainian brigades are involved. They progressed some 5 kilometer but immediately took severe casualties and losses of equipment due to Russian air force action. But over night the Ukrainian troops dug in and this morning tried to expand their holdings by attacking the city of Sudzha
The Ukrainian operation makes little sense. It is well known that Russia has plenty of forces in the area. It will not need to stop its attacks in the Donetsk region to counter the Ukrainian forces near Sumy.
There have been rumors for some time that Russia was planing to repeat in Sumy the diversion it has achieved in the Kharkiv region. North of Kharkiv Russian forces crossed the border into Ukraine, progressed some 10 kilometer and dug in. The Ukrainians had to pull troops from the Donetsk front to counter the threatening Russian move towards Kharkiv. The diversion of Ukrainian troops enabled Russian breakthroughs in the Donetsk region.
The current Ukrainian attack from Sumy towards Kursk is giving Russia the perfect pretext to launch another incursion into Ukraine.

Of course they are putting up strong resistance and fighting well, but it will be in vain. Despite all the aid and support they are getting from NATO it's just prolonging the inevitable

A tacit acknowledgement that the Ukrainian soldier is as equally adept at killing his enemy as a russian is and better in some instances , now we're making progress. There's only one true inevitability in life and that's death everything is assumption , supposition or guesswork .

I never stated the Ukranian soldier was inferior, just that the Russians have far more resources and knowledge. It's a war of attrition on a huge scale that makes Afghanistan etc a schoolyard fight in comparison. They have so many resources even NATO cannot compete, but the result is inevitable

5KM? You are dreaming. Look at the map - which is corroborated by the Russian miliary bloggers. There were Russian airstrikes, but some hit their own armoured vehicles in a friendly fire incident. Look at the videos in the link I posted. At least 3 Russian helicopters have been lost in this region.

Incursion into Russian territory now at least 34 km in places. Don't know how long this will last.
⚡️The 🇺🇦Ukrainian Armed Forces in 🇷🇺Kursk Oblast managed to break through two lines of fortifications that the Russian army had been building for 2.5 years of war, spending 15 billion rubles. It took the Ukrainian military 20 hours to do this pic.twitter.com/CcSSJiEgqd
