Winter fuel allowance on 20:28 - Jul 29 by Boundy | The " books " have openly been available for scrutiny for months if not years and all of a sudden this , great for the doctors who imo deserve a decent rise but then again who doesn't ,nurses support staff etc. We are now seeing a glimpse of the future with the Autumn statement still to come then I predict more misery put upon an already fed up country with the thought that there's at least 5 year ahead . |
The Government spends £1,200 Billion each year, £20 Billion is not significant when you consider the impact of a change in global interest rates fir example. The Government has also increased spending by £24 Billion since the election.

The State will provide your care in a Home too, whilst the mugs sell their terraced house to pay £ 1500 per week to have chicken nuggets for tea . Labour . Again |
A lot of honesty in that post which sums up the situation my parents are in.

I’m not sure if the timings are linked, but there were quite a few stories earlier in the week about profiteering by petrol stations by artificially inflating their margins. It could be that by increasing tax on fuels the cost could be swallowed by the sellers. I’m ever the optimist!

The CMA were warned that allowing mergers and acquisitions of some of the bigger petrol retailers and supermarkets would result in higher prices, they acknowledged it but still let it happen. As a results profiteering has increased significantly. Previously, independents were always more expensive than supermarkets garages, now it’s the other way round! Something isn’t right.

They will kill many of those who voted for them I just wished the Tories had had a backbone to truly address the issues in the country Gender legislation and other drivel are not priorities. Johnson May and Truss are responsible for this for turning Tory voters to vote Labour

Supermarket petrol stations have been accused time and time again since covid, all the Ombudsman(if there is one) who should be regulating the price of oil especially if the price of a barrel of oil is continually low is force supermarket prices down by a couple of pence and then it slowly rises again no doubt encouraged by the Just stop oil zealots. Winter fuel allowance on 13:25 - Jul 30 with 796 views | Robbie | Will probably be means tested myself and will not be eligiable for the allowance . Luckily for me it will be no big deal and I can take the hit , others will need it of course . What really grinds my gears are able bodied people capable of working a full week instead opting to do the minimum 16 hrs per week then using the benefits system to get a top up . Quite open in admitting it too . Will their financies be looked into as much as mine .
Winter fuel allowance on 13:28 - Jul 30 with 786 views | union_jack | Should not be taken off those who already receive it imo. The same should have applied to the free TV Licence. Just let them taper off, the amount paid out would not be onerous and ever decreasing of course.

I agree. My mother in law, would be considered the very poor. Gets all sorts of benefits now has barely worked in her life, has money in different savings accounts (not in her name) to keep under the benefits savings threshold and will still get the winter fuel allowance. My parents who both worked full time their entire lives won't get it any longer. A benefits clamp down is desperately needed and would save billions. I hope this is just the start.

Sorry with respect you posted earlier they didn't need the fuel allowance. But I 100% agree with you on the benefits clampdown, I worked for 42 years and haven't claimed a penny, and find it galling to see some claiming everything who haven't worked a day in their life

It’s a culture . I will repeat. Those at the bottom of the food chain ,will always be fed ,clothed and housed no matter what they bleat . Those at the top have already the resources to self provide with comfort. Pity the not that poor and not that rich 80% of the country

If this was younger people, they’d just be told to stop buying Starbucks and cancel Netflix. I’ll keep banging the drum, a child in the UK is three times more likely to be living in poverty than a pensioner. I hope this government is seriously about levelling up. The last lot weren’t.

Winter fuel allowance on 20:11 - Jul 29 by Dr_Winston | There is no "£20bn hole". The figures have been available from the OBR for months. It's just a Labour excuse to raise taxes whilst simultaneously blaming the Tories and their supporters are falling for it hook, line and sinker. Meanwhile, despite this apparent huge gap in National finances, more than £11bn has been pledged in overseas climate change aid, and Doctors have been offered a payrise in excess of 20% with no concessions required. |
The OBR have launched a review of its own report on the previous government's spring Budget because it was based on Tory spending plans. They’ve already identified £6 billion not accounted for as a cost for accommodation for asylum seekers (I assume this because Rwanda was going to solve it all). I mentioned in another thread the hidden £5 billion off the books for SEND funding. There £11 billion missing for starters.

This lot are the same as the last lot they are only interested in looking after themselves and the elites, maybe to a slightly less degree but they are the same, they kicked out all the socialists that should give you a good idea what they are about.

Sorry Gwyn I agree with most things you post, but I can't with your second paragraph. Far to many feckless parents who should never be allowed to have children, head to foot in tattoos vaping and then moaning about how they are going to feed their brood. Swansea Town centre is an eye opener

It’s really quite simple Have children ONLY when able to care for them. That means ,if the State can’t or won’t,you do. Kids are parents responsibility ,not the states It is right across our island Ray,from Aberdeen to Aberdare . We have lost our way I don’t see why I should pay for others to have kids with no intention at all of providing for them themselves

This ,we had 3 children and each one was born at a time where we could afford them ,never ever considered relying on the state to care for their needs.Tax credits wtf all we had was family allowance and me working all hours to ensure they had a decent happy upbringing.
