4 trialists. Keep an eye out for Sammy this season.

Swansea City Under-21s continued their pre-season preparations with victory over newly promoted JD Cymru South side Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road.

Following a goalless first half, goals in the second period from Thomas Woodward and Sammy Henia-Kamau sealed the win for the development side.

Goalkeeper Ben Hughes got his first full game under his belt after suffering a knee injury over eight months ago, while midfielder Mitchell Bates skippered the Swans against his former club.

After an even start Henia-Kamau fashioned the first chance, but the forward hesitated before getting away a shot, allowing the keeper to advance and snuff out the danger.

At the other end, Hughes got down low to save a powerful shot before a Swans trialist struck an effort from long range that forced a one-handed save from Rhys Wilson in the Ferry goal.

Former Swans academy player Corey Hurford also tried his luck for the hosts, weaving his way into the penalty area before seeing a shot blocked by Harry Jones.

Hughes then tipped away an effort from Tom Price before the Swans broke the deadlock on the hour mark when 17-year-old Woodward finished from a cross to the far post.

Less than 10 minutes later, Henia-Kamau calmly guided the ball into the net after beating the keeper on the edge of the area.

Swansea City Under-21s: Ben Hughes, Trialist, Sebastian Dabrowski (Callum Deacon 45), Jacob Cook (Harlan Perry 60), Harry Jones (Iestyn Jones 45), Trialist, Trialist, Mitchell Bates (Josh Pescatore 60), Sammy Henia-Kamau, Glory Nzingo (Thomas Woodward 45), Trialist.

Substitutes: Sam Seager, Brogan Popham, Ramon Rees-Siso.

Swansea City Under-21s continue their pre-season programme on Saturday July 27 when they face Barry Town at Jenner Park. (2.30pm)

Swansea u21 beat them 6-0 last season 9 months ago in the Nataniel Cup. with three double by players all of whom have moved on.

Reuben Davies
Kian Jenkins ?
Kristian Fletcher.

The score last night may indicate a drop of in quality but BF LL had a man sent off in 26 mins so that might have inflated the score. It may also represent a much lower average age of the SCFC team.

You may have missed the fact that Ferry has strengthened during the season for the forthcoming foray in the Premier League so I wouldn't pay too much attention to last seasons score line.

Good information and they had a man sent off after 26 as well. Other results will give an indication of where they are.
