My memories of these things is the smell of after shave.
Four youngsters on their way out to a concert around twenty years ago crashed on a nasty bend. All of them died. I attended. One had his phone still on (not the driver) with his brother still online. But the overpowering smell of after shave stays with me to this day. Four young people all under 19 with their futures ahead of them, good kids too celebrating their end of sixth form. No alcohol, no drugs, just fate.
All bar one all looked like they could just get up and carry on their way. Of course they couldn’t.

Worst I had was being sent to the riverside as a body had been found by fisherman .
We hauled the body out but his leg came off in my hands
He’d been in the water for a week .
