Here is a situation where brave police officers were subject to appalling violence, here you saw police officers in full ‘fight or flight’ adrenaline/psychological response, whilst without the advantage of stopping time in its tracks.
Anyone, whether it be a civvy or a cop would have adrenaline rushing at maximum levels in this circumstance, and all without the luxury of “pause and reflect” thinking time and a nice cup of tea to review it all.
Here we saw a police officer who was nothing other than reactive whilst showing adrenaline rush instinctively. Any tw@t that wants to have a go at the police on this one?
Freeze-frame-motion armchair critics living a paralell universe apart in a safe and secure world? Should be placed in a similar situation to suffer equal emotional distress/fear and to experience how they would personally react when themselves and own kith and kin suffer similar violence.

These 2 clowns viciously assaulted the police. You can see the punch the female officer took and the impact it had on her in the video. I for one hope the officers are able to satisfactorily explain their conduct away and that this gets binned once and for all.

The police/military types I thought were supposed to be trained, supposed to have discipline, the policeman needs retraining or he is not cut out for the job.

I wouldn’t expect the video to get “the copper off the hook” as you put it. The criminal investigation is just that, an investigation where the evidence will be gathered and the tested, he’ll stand or fall according to the evidence and the account he provides detailing his beliefs at the time the incident took place is likely to be a significant factor.
The police, unlike many in our society are at a distinct disadvantage in comparison to Joe Public. This officer is likely to face a criminal and disciplinary investigation, so in effect the IOPC or whatever they’re called will have 2 bites at the cherry. If the officer is told there’s no criminal case to answer or is found not guilty, they can still go for a disciplinary hearing - double jeopardy. | | | |

There should be an investigation and the officer and his colleagues allowed to have their say on events instead of being tried by CCTV and the media.
Kicking someone in the head and stamping on them are pretty serious acts, but if the officers can justify their action and show their conduct was reasonable then they should be allowed to return to duty. Common law, The Criminal Law Act 1967 and the Human Rights Act 1987 all allow for reasonable force to be used. Bear in mind these officers were armed and could have had their weapons taken off them by the assailants or crowd then the risk levels are escalated and the situation is a lot more difficult to control.
