Stumbled upon this independently made documentary of the death of George Floyd and it’s worth watching (though quite long). What a travesty of justice and abuse of justice this has been. If you’ve got the time, watch it and you’ll see it in a completely different light if you don’t already.

I've seen enough to know it's not independent and quite possibly / probably not the truth but somebodies biased version of it.
It's made by a bunch of right wing republicans who are know for mosting conspiracies and propganda.
What have you seen in it to make you think it's firstly independent and secondly the truth?
You’re not wrong. The below is the summary and headline from one of the media bias checking organisations reports on Alpha News.

Some editing would be possible, but I do not think the body cam footage has been changed in any way other than selecting and pasting segments together. There was enough evidence produced at the time to tell us that Mr Floyd was not a very nice man. The clincher for me was the video of "Big George" I viewed on TheHabibShow.com. I think it has been taken down on the original website but wasn't hard to find when I checked today. The content made me wonder what Mr Floyd's many female supporters would think of his attitude towards women. Another angle not picked up in the video at the opening post is the outstanding felony arrest warrants on Morries Lester Hall, the other man in the car at the time of the incident, and the nature of his offenses (one involved possession of a firearm). He is now in Jail after being sentenced to 15 years for sex trafficking.

I believe this guy was cuffed, restrained and on the floor, surrounded by 3 armed cops. Yes, a real danger wasn't he?

Time to be cruel Exactly who misses this chap, outside his family.
Is the world worse off a place after his passing
What is his legacy ?
It’s nice to leave something worthwhile and honourable behind when we pass into the dust bowl .
Although harsh, that’s fair. But that’s not the point I’m making. I certainly wouldn’t revel in the loss of human life (hardly) ever.
The documentary shows how the whole aftermath of his death was engineered to an extent to find scapegoats and to make it look like a white police force purposefully or neglectfully killing a black man. The powers to be did nothing to calm the situation both at the time nor through the justice system afterwards where it seems cover up after cover up made the officers guilty when they possibly weren’t.
I can only repeat what I have been saying ad nauseum, people should watch it then comment. I’ll have no issues if people can put up a credible counter argument to what I believe are the facts cited in the film.

This thread encapsulates one of the biggest problems facing us today and in the future.
Where do you source your information from? Most people seek out sources thatthey know will agree with their already form ed opinions thus entrenching their views.
People then become more and more polarised in tbeir views and the days of respect for other opinions and consensus politics are left further and further behind.

The other angle on this is that no single source (or portion of the news "spectrum") is sufficient to gain a full picture of controversial events. Just as GB News or the Mail will sometimes omit important bits of an overall picture, there are certain kinds of information that the Guardian and the Indy will never report. What happened with the father in the Aylan Kurdi drowning case is a good example. So not everything coming from right wing sources can be discounted, especially if there is corroboration from video evidence or other sources. I think UJ has a point about the misleading hagiography constructed around GF, and that it may indeed have affected the legal process.

Facing exceptionally violent men isn’t comfortable . drugs means they are sometimes drawing on unknown ,unnatural strength . I am lucky to be still here . It is about self preservation. You or them. Police have guidelines, criminals none ,apart from doing whatever it takes to get away with crime .WHATEVER it takes. Those bleeding for this chap do so out of a gut reaction borne out of their political or social beliefs . The ones who always blame the Police. They do it here . This Floyd incident is manna for them and the fact he was a black man makes it more so.
Those who are most vociferous on this live well away from such trouble .

I think it goes a little further than that. There are incredibly biased mainstream media sources, such as the Mail, the Telegraph and the Mirror but then there are others who's raison d'etre is to support and diseminate a particular political angle rather than distribute news. That is why the source of a "story" is so important, that story ofter becomes propaganda.
I would consider GB News in this category but more worrying is the so called "independent" sources online. Whether they are from the left or the right.
This documentary is 2 hours of right wing propaganda and is just as beleivable as a documentary on George Floyd commissioned by Black Lives Matter. There is no difference.
I'm just amazed people get taken in by it - especially when they genuinley think it's independent or the truth.

Is the world a better, safer place now or before his demise. Some may say unsafer due to it ,some may have a more personal view.

A good example of GB News doing just this is the way the framed yesterday's abhorrant incident in Leicester.
Their TV program and online stuff showed (video, Op Eds and stills) the actions of almost exclusively non-white young men when (sadle) it was all colours and ages involved.
I don't like the tone and politics of the Mail, however, they do have some good columnists and have done some excellent investigative pieces.
It'snot comparable to GB News and even further away is Talk TV, which is the only outlet mentioned on here that I won't click on.

No. It's propaganda.
Have you watched an equivalent by BLM?
I wouldn't watch a story on immigration on GB news for the same reason.
[Post edited 19 Jul 13:59]
I’ve been watching the BLM angle sinvpcevthe day it happened.
There is a lot of evidence in this film that I’d like to think would change your mind but I’ve come to the conclusion that you’d say black is white (don’t go looking for something in that example!) if you don’t agree with it.
Until you explore both sides, your opinion has no validity.

It's not evidence, it's propaganda. That's not an opinion it's fact.
I don't think I've ever expressed my opinion on the George Floyd murder on here?
