''Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?''
RIP Sergeant Oddball.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

An HBO made for TV movie that nobody has ever seen. Go and use this excuse to look it up now, there are DVDs kicking around for a couple of quid. It inspired the casting of Chernobyl, and their decision not to make them all do dodgy Russian accents a la Hunt for Red October. Sutherland is generationally superb in that.

Don't Look Now rewatch this weekend I reckon. Brilliant acting/story but Venice in winter as a backdrop is perfect. My favourite time of year to visit there.

RIP Donald.
cant remember anything he was in and him not being a stand out star in it , loved the guy ,
This films via Sutherlans performance shows that some waster hippies can be fighters if the fight is personally worth it to them. Also, just because they are hippies does not mean they don't understand the world and don't have the expertise (as in knowing how to take on the superior Panzer tanks and when NOT to take them on).
He plays the role amazingly well with jokes such as "negative vibes".

His 20 minute (but seems like an hour, in a good way) part in JFK is one of my favourite pieces of film, ever. Grips you from the start and sends a chill down your spine by the end of it.
A true, modern great. RIP.

My earliest recollection of him was in the series 'Man in a Suitcase'. He played McGill's sort of mate who seemed to get him into trouble. 1st class actor with so much humour. Sad loss. R I P.
