The Islington millionaire clearly has a large personal vote among the champagne socialists who live in that constituency. I wouldnât be surprised if he wins and I would guess that it will be close.
If he gets in heâll vote with Labour or abstain most of the time so itâs largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Why was he unelectable if he was following â working class policiesâ .just the hell are these ? I know, soak the rich . I can hear Dennis Healey now in the ether
Because the elites and media did a number on him and people like you swallowed it.
Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

I haven't seen any odds yet but I would not be surprised if he is made favourite for the seat at this stage.

Not being provocative here, but have you actually been to North Islington? I can tell you Brewery Road isn't actually Tuscany.
He does loads with the community and is a good constituency MP. He was a shĂŽt party leader
Looks like record breaking numbers this year, add that to the 685,000 that have arrived legally of late! Another reason I guess why this general election has been called so early. I await the 'emotional blackmail/mind-games' about Rwnada flights taking off in the not too distant future, after the not too distant future that comes after the not too distant future after that etc, etc, etc!!!!

Corbyn is doing what Corbyn does. Cracking local MP but nothing more than that
To have a piece of filth like Corbyn as my MP would make me feel ashamed. There again, his constituency demographics ensures he endures. A man who hates this countries and has supported vicious mass murderers organisations all his dirty political life . Time for Islington to do the right thing

Can't be arsed to revisit the story now (don't want to waste my time on donuts on here) but Corbyn was said to have saved a historic local Jewish cemetery from the council who wanted to build on it years ago, the head of the council was a Jew as well (or was she head of planning at that time ?), a right wing Labour Jew who years later was one of the right wing Labour Jews that did a number on him.all the left wing Jewish people up there and in Labour loved him, interestingly it seemed to me the more educated ones seemed to love him lots.

You get a Tory Government anyway, a red Tory Government, it's next to pointless voting Labour as they are a Tory lite party. Starmer is another Thatcher who represents the rich and elites
The country needs a proper socialist government which means taking on the elites that run the country, they run big businesses and media and they will try and discredit a bona fide left of centre party, trying to overcome that power will be extremely difficult, look at the number they did on Foot and Corbyn.
At the very time the population was rising the government were making cut backs everywhere, the NHS, schools and the police. NHS waiting lists were longer, children haven't been geting a decent education and crime rose.
It was bound to happen. More and more of our money is being wasted by numbskull politicans on things we don't really want and in several cases, don't need.
HS2 was always a vanity project, a waste of billions. The PPE scandal. We need change.

There's a bit more nuance to this my good chum, but that's best discussed over a vimto!

I wouldn't say you're wasting time. He is very active amongst the local community and I'm not knocking him as a constituency MP. My central point is (a) a large chunk of Islington is an absolute shĂŽthole despite what the twĂĄts in the media will tell you and (b) a good local MP does not make a leader of a party.

Well,weâve still got a nice guest suite,a beautiful black Lab,musical instruments all over the place and soon a new bathroom. Anytime . Just give us a weeks notice
The NHS should use its money more wisely & not just have money continually pumped into it.
It shouldnât be a political football & should be controlled by cross parties (or make it non political)
Are people really afraid to say they want scroungers & people fuelled with hate of this country stopped from coming here? Iâm happy to say that if they are here illegally they donât get anything I pay taxes for.
I thinking shipping them anywhere is a great idea đ
You mention the NHS and having moneyâcontinually pumped into itâ but there a lot of gaslighting going on in relation to NHS budget and things can be far from straightforward.
In terms of NHS England, the 2024 Spring Budget also announced an increase of ÂŁ2.5bn to NHS Englandâs planned budget for 2024/25. Thats a lot of money, but in real terms it actually equates to the budget means the remaining relatively flat increasing by 0.2%, BUT if the budget is adjusted for to reflect the increasing population and the fact there are far more older people the planned NHS England budget will have DECREASED by an average of 1.6% per year in real terms. I dare say the same situation exists in the Wales and Scotland.
The NHS is in an unenvious position, itâs taking some flak from politicians who will trumpet the increased budgets, but the fact is itâs expected to treat more and more people who cost more to care for with less resources. I totally agree with you about being made non political, but thatâs not likely to happen.

The NHS needs root and branch reform it is not fit for purpose in its current form. It is inefficient, over beaurcratic, top heavy with management and serms to be run for the benefit of the staff not the patients.
Unfortunately no political party will admit in needs reform.
Interestingly no other country in the World has copied the UK model of a NHS.

The NHS is the seventh largest employer on the entire planet with an annual budget in excess of ÂŁ160bn. I cannot but laugh helplessly at people who think that it is any way underfunded or understaffed.
It is atrociously run in basically every capacity. Some responsibility lies with Labour, some with the Tories. It remains an obvious fact however that until the Great British Public accept that every single health requirement cannot be dealt with rapidly and completely by the NHS progress cannot be made on the subject.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
Regarding the last few posts, I think there is a bit to both sides of the argument. Budgets have increased, especially when one considers the cost of COVID-19, but this is not keeping up with population growth. Ever since I can remember, the NHS has been pressured to achieve cost savings and efficiency gains, but I have the sense that this wears off somewhat, so that each new cohort of managers needs to find new ways to improve things. Overall, the big problem I see is that we have record spending and public debt, but falling per capita productivity and insufficient additional tax receipts from our extra population to fund the uplift needed in services and infrastructure.

I don't think the NHS has enough resources. Look at the A&E for example, it's just Morriston that really has this and it serves a large population of the Swansea , Neath and P Talbot area, a population of over half a million. Ideally, we need more A&E departs fully staffed, as the P Talbot one is a waste of time as regarding it's A&E.
The NHS is very well run in comparison to many private companies. It has a very low manager to staff ratio. I don't know what is happening at GP surgeries though, surely their workload is no greater now that it was pre covid. I know most of them at my surgery are part time. We can't get a consultation unless we ring up very early.Something needs to be done about this

I find it unbelievable that anyone who visits any hospital cannot see that it is poorly run.

No other country on Earth has a health service as centralised and politicised as ours is, largely because any attempts to try and change that are met with screams of bloody murder from people convinced that Governments are just gagging to bring in a US system, as if that was the only other alternative.
Labour think that the only way to solve the problem is to keep feeding the beast by pouring ever increasing sums of money into it, which is like trying to put out a fire by using petrol. The Tories are terrified of being accused of selling it off, so at best will only ever tinker around the edges.
Huge root and branch reform is required.

Starmer is currently on a tour of lower league football clubs because according to a senior Labour spokesman âwe want him to appear as a football loving ordinary blokeâ.
Do these people think we are completely stupid or something?

In answer to your question, without doubt yes . Getting own with the kids I believe is the mantra .
"In a free society, the State is the servant of the peopleânot the master."
