Hull City v Swansea City : Match day thread 22:06 - Feb 6 with 9973 viewsModeratorC

Liam Rosenior with a glitzy transfer window behind him has seen his side win the last two league games. This after a poor run and much concern amongst a certain section of the Tigers support. Well, as it happens the Swans will be in town and they are desperate to arrest what has been a disappointing start to Luke Williams tenure.

It’s the Tigers v the Swans at the MKM stadium, not quite on the banks of the Humber as that would be a silly place to build a football stadium.

Funny how there are big similarities to last week.

We dominated the game.

Early-ish goal settled the game from a well worked corner.

The only difference being it was us who scored.

Only one loan players started the game and he is undisputed. Rushworth.

There are six in total with Lowe and Ashby injured. Patino and Humphreys came on as subs and Sagoe Jnr unused. The sugs did their job.

Cabango Cullen are home grown products and played and Cooper came on as sub. Lissah was on the bench again for experience. Parker has had a run but injured.

I feel all loans should be exceptional not making up the numbers. Swansea boys should do that.

Yates is a poor mans Cullen, his attempts at challenging for headers are embarrassing, he didn't have much of a chance with the ball at is feet in the area, but he didn't fancy the aerial contests.

The report concludes he is short on awareness in front of goal. Anticipation, gambling, just being able to challenge. So poor.

He lacks everything needed to be a number 9. If Williams wanted to give Cullen a break he should have brought Kukharevych on, can he really be worse than Yates.

This all day , closing them down with maybe the first or second tackle being missed but the majority it was us coming away with the ball

Most encouraging performance of the season
I’m hoping we can move this along now.
Seemed we had fire, and real purpose and refrained from that which has cost us .
Just a shame Heyes seems an absolute dud and the Uke unpickable.
Still.

There is no way on the showing so far that he is going to be a £5m player. His pace was good but it was near as damn it matched by the LB/CD at times.

He needs to find his feet then we’ll know more.

He is getting crosses into the box, adding a defensive element to assist the defence on the right hand side while also competing well aerially, and ensuring we are not continuously under pressure getting us more, good possession further up the pitch letting the opposition worry about their defensive frailties.
But it is not about one player it is about how it affects the team setup having outlets further up the park. Excellent shot and set play for Cullen's goal but thought we, maybe understandably, got hemmed in a the end with not enough outlets up front but fair dos to Cooper he was relatively successful in keeping their defenders penned back in their half to ease some pressure to see the game out.
