Last time I ventured into my local pub was before the covid issue , they had Sky to watch the football , something I have not got . no big deal for me a beer and sport on the tele .
Lock Down , Social Distancing rules and regs then followed , I did not socialise any more .
Have not bothered to return to them haunts since then .
Now boozers in my area are closing down big time , converted into flats and the like .
Agree , the night out in the local for a pint , chat with a stranger have gone sadly .
Smoking bans , £5 a pint in places , added to the problem of having to be wary of others .
Are they stoned , high , nasty in drink after a few too many or steriod gym freaks .
Unfortunate my locals are closing down , staff losses and kitchen workers will be difficult . | | | |

For example, all Tesco economic activity in Wales is counted as English as their HQ is in England.
Thats £3 billion btw.
Mutiply that by all the other businesses that operate in Wales but like Tesco have hq’s in England.
There has been a near economic disaster in wales since the heavy industries died, but its more complex thsn the headline numbers on both sides of the debate.

Loads closed in Birkenhead but there again I’d never venture there to “ drink” . Too depressing and tricky .
West Wirral is doing ok however and when when restaurant / bar closes,somebody reopens it.
I don’t really go to Liverpool apart from Gigs and exhibitions .
Population of Wirral is over 300,000 so there’s plenty of life here as well as open country .

Mow pubs, nt just Welsh pubs, they are dying out. Strangely though the alcohol problem is still there as people just stock up at the supermarket. Smoking was hit hard, no smoking indoors, no adverts, price rise after price rise but besides the price rises they haven't discouraged alcohol whch causes more problems than smoking. | | | |
