Sh-gged by sheep? Cardiff match thread. 16:01 - Aug 11 with 74147 viewsjohnhoop

Doesn’t seem to be a match thread and haven’t done one before so here goes.
Hoping the outcome doesn’t match the thread title but fear that it might do, as they’ve mysteriously managed to strengthen their team considerably, despite being under a transfer embargo.
An optimistic 1-0 to Cardiff ( scorer Josh Bowler of course).

Something as basic as that Kakay run off the one-two with Smyth to win a corner, not seen much of that for a while. Simple stuff that goes a long way in this league

Boro have had a poor start to the season.

Fantastic 1st half their best under Ainsworth return to Warburton’s 3-4-2-1 with Dykes playing deeper. Not a poor performance on the pitch there and for the first time we look properly organised .

It's interesting that Dykes is the deeper striker. Not sure he's been in the game as much as I'd like, but given the score I'm not going to complain.

Agree on Paal and Dozy. Kakay, though, is looking much better. Cook also solid, which is helping Fox, of course. Field patrolling purposefully. Smyth has been a livewire, and that was a delicious assist for our dynamic duck-breaker.

We actually look like a semblance of a professional football team. What's gone wrong?

Don’t have to be world beaters in this leauge. Just be vaguely competent. We look tgat at the moment

Agree, lots of talk about the three coming down and the three coming up, but there’s still lots of average sides in between

I think if Sinclair is the furthest forward, you are going to get more space as they will drop off a bit to cope with his pace, and always leave 2 back. Dykes doesn't give you that, and Sinclair would be better chasing anything he flicks on or that goes long.

Rush of blood from Sinclair, I think that's to be expected, ironic Chair telling him to release the ball

Chair looks a bit laboured and under the weather for me. An interesting interview would involve his views on the Willock situation - Clive?

Well, by slowing the game down we've killed their post-half time rally, but not sure it's doing us any favours either.

My perpetual peeve is why Chair's corners are so persistently poor.

The longer the game goes on, the more risks they’ll take. We need to keep it tight and pick them off as they push on

Last good corner taker we had was Archie Andrews in 1954.

Very calm and assured from Armstrong there. A real sign of maturity.
