Hang your head in shame. Gave them the first by your insistance that we should play from the back when we aren’t anywhere near hood enough. Even worse is that you don’t see it and continue repeating the madness. The fans dont want it, clearly the players dont but hey ho.
No attack, no shots, negative back passing and a lack of a game plan. Subs too late again, shall I go on.
Only positive is at least we know that you are not our nxt manager.
What a pathetic spineless way to send us to non league. Absoluted devastated at that performance.

Whilst I wouldn’t be quite so harsh, his insistence on playing like this allied with his thoughts on how he believes the game should be played will be a massive issue if he does get he job and continues with something as minor as the way we take goal kicks.

He can talk about being in tune with the fan base in interviews and how important it is, but it’s clearly not something those fans want to see. Whether you agree with that or not is a different matter, but the anxiety and frustration it creates is obviously avoidable.

Blaming McNulty is a bit rich. He has been chucked in at the deep end, has already secured better performances and more points than any one expected, he has a very limited amount of competent players and as a team they aren't anywhere near good enough.

The fault lies in the boardroom, for allowing Stockdale to sign useless players on long contracts and we've paid the price for that.

Bradford weren't a good side by any means, but we had no ideas, no impetus, nothing to offer and were just abysmal. We weren't even competitive.

The season can't end soon enough. Rip everything up and start again.

A fresh start is definitely what we need.

But we didn't did we. We don't know how to. At least Mellor tried to get behind their defence. But they never got out of second gear. Are you happy that there is no fight in this team?

Not sure if you think that’s funny but surprisingly you only score when you go forward. 3 years of this backwards shite has been horrible yo watch and has led to the club that I love being relegated

Yet I’m not saying that, am I?

Having forgotten more about the game than you’ll even know, it’s probably best left there.

Said on another thread whilst the second half it clearly wasn't working, I'm not sure how many big changes he could've done. With no Quigley I'm not sure if we have the players to go more direct especially against a very physical Bradford team.

The centre midfield clearly needed support but again, I'm not sure if we have the personnel in the squad. If McNulty is given the job I'd like to see him recruit players for the style but with clear options which would allow him and the team to change it when required.

The worry I have giving McNulty the job full time would be his loyalty to the players he has played and worked with for years. Most are clearly not good enough and we need a massive clear out and rebuild

All hypothetical of course, but were he to be given the job, I doubt he would be showing much loyalty or favouritism to many of the current squad of players. They've got us where we are and there's absolutely nothing to suggest that the majority of them could give a monkeys about our plight.

If Jim has/ had any aspirations to take the job, he needs to be ruthless. No more than 4 or 5 of that squad are good enough, even for the National League and in any case Brierley will be plying his trade 3 division higher.

Pay off the clog dancers and buy some enthusiastic younger players with a will to win and a desire to play the game. We need drive, determination, (Lloyd) and players who will fight for the shirt.

There are one or two gems in this squad, whose best days are ahead of them. Sadly for most of them, their football league days are almost over. Their desire was over a long time ago.

Can it not be admitted that Bradford were just the better team?

A familiar theme throughout the season....., pick any other team from league 2 as an example

This passing out from the back hasn't worked and won't work at Dale in a division/s full of clubs like the Bradfords, the Mansfields etc. They're usually packed with much stronger/bigger players who have clear game-plans and generally win more than not.

I think the club should perhaps be interested to get some pointers from Steve Whitehall's son Danny on his experiences in the National League with Eastleigh - because, unless some miracle happens we know deep down where we're going - as I'm sure he would have some very good advice.

Ironically Danny was on Dale's books but seem to think he was released and never signed pro.

This may sound sound harsh but after today I think the Jim has messed up his prolonged job application big style.
People streaming from the ground at 4.40pm told it’s own story.
He needs to go working in someone’s Academy if he wants to play a nice looking sort of football.

As I have mentioned on another post, after listening to his post interview, it would seem that is the style of football he wants to implement. I also gained the impression, that he also hopes to be given more time to do so, so I can only presume that he is hoping to be confirmed as manager next season.

The problem is that the national league is like league 2, with squads of big physical players, so if we play youth team 'possession' style football of holding onto the ball and passing it sideways across the defence or midfield, we may well struggle.

Totally agree, I think we need a permanent manager by the Sutton game, to decide who is going and who is staying. McNulty approach to the game yesterday, with his attitude that it was more important to play out of the back and sideways, it was like BBM had returned and his response post match confirms my belief that he is not the man for the job. Sadly I suspect that McNulty may get it, which could be a disaster, because like BBM he as a youth team coach mentality to games.

Squad ideas 2023-24.

new contracts: Lloyd (he will get better offers!), Henderson
Sold: Mullarkey, Brierley, Odoh
Available on free transfers: John, Ball, Campbell
Release: McNulty, Graham, White, Bennett, Diagouraga, Keohane, Kelly

Teams like Barrow have shown you can play possession based football and be successful in the league below. The key will be recruiting the right players for it.

Second half was unacceptable.

We invited a bang average Bradford side to do as they pleased with no clear game plan. It was horrible to watch.

McNulty is not the future. The club needs a clear out and we need a new manager now who can assess what's required (big clear out) as we plan for Vanarama football next season.

Bradford were very good.

Two goals from free-kicks not over surprising with an outfield of Lloyd, Kelly, Brierley, Odoh, Hendo.

The only time we got into the game was for an all too brief period 25-45 mins.

Other than that it was one way not aided by some players having a mare ‘first time touch’ day.

As junior said at final whistle, the biggest surprise is how we somehow managed to beat Bradford earlier this season. They are same as they always have been the last 15 years, big, strong, direct, powerful striker etc. We couldn’t compete physicality.

When will there be an update or rumours from the board on the appointment of a new manager?

I'd keep Mullarkey. Make him captain (if Lloyd goes). He knows the NL very well and knows what's required. He's a decent player and has a lot to offer.

Brierley is gone as we all know. Offer Hendo a year - no more. He might take it.

You don't mention EEL who can leave today. Massive disappointment this season, as has been Keohane.

I'd release all those you mention, without a second thought. Wipe the slate clean and start afresh with a solid, viable plan on and off the field.

Any notions that people have about us flying high from the start of next season are fanciful. We will be the team everyone wants to beat as every game will be against a new 'welcoming committee', determined to leave its' mark.

It's a new environment, and we need to be ready, well prepared and mentally tough.

Most important season in the history of the club coming up.

after the mention of youth team coaching had a look at the academy website https://rochdaleafcyouth.co.uk/ it could do with a little bit of updating.

Clear out 1… Stockdale
Clear out 2… Bentley

Both happened to late because they don’t listen / read what we sat on here…

Scunny sacked KH well after the relegation that followed last year.. they stuck by him to build a team to bounce back up.. that failed miserably…

Are we the next Scarborough? Original ground is now a housing estate & they played Sunday league to get back up the leagues…

Tuesday is not a massive game… we will be gone by Saturday…
