David Attenborough show kicked sideways to iPlayer

What times we live in

I know almost nothing about the Premier League even though I try to catch the big games every now and then at the end of the season. But I will say this, Queens Park Rangers is just a fukking sick ass team name. Just sounds so cool.

So the end result was the BBC have to apologise and bring him back. What a waste of time that was.

They are lucky he wants to stay with them after all this, they could have been facing claims for reputational damage having suspended him incorrectly.

Presenters are all out of touch, virtue signalling, woke tosspots.
Despite yougov survey that said considerably more people supported (53%:27%) Lineker's stand than condemned it.

Outside BBC HQ is a statue of George Orwell and a quote from him
"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear".
That applies to both sides.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." I don't know. I actually think it was worth it for the BBC to realise that they will also be criticised if they bend over backwards to be impartial if this means letting the Government off the hook. There are many viewers that are sick to death of them not holding the Government to account in the guise of impartiality and even handedness.

Fiona Bruce, for instance, will hopefully be a lot more careful about what she says going forward.

I'm sure the viewing figures went up because Lineker wasn't there, nothing to do with the two days of free advertising the show got because it was leading the news or the novelty of having it with no pundits, just people previously refusing to watch the show because of Lineker's presence returning.

I assume that we're waiting for the banks to open in the US?

Share prices unsurprisingly are way down, but only to what they were two/three months ago, but I'm still awaiting news of these runs on the banks!

Am I the only one who noticed that Signature and SVB had a common faulty exposure - crytpo? and people are pointing at the Fed for the failure, while there are many banks who are not as exposed, and do not seem to be in trouble.

All the fake money was going to hurt someone at some point.

In this day and age of digital stuff, we should just be able to have a commentary 'layer' of the broadcast and press a button that mutes it . Still get pictures and sound but without the waffle.

"calling the govt a bunch of nazis", which he patently didn't do.

However, when the likes of Alternative fur Deutschland, Eric Zemmour (France) and Matteo Salvini (Italy) have all expressly stated their full support of the bill, it's hardly surprising that those advocates of the proposed bill in the UK are keen to distance themselves from the aforementioned by any means possible.

It got good viewing figures because of the curiosity for it. People slow down to see a car crash. The output was amateurish and you can get better coverage online 20 minutes after the match so there’d be next to no demand for that so-called format as a regular occurrence.

Lineker’s tweet wasn’t inaccurate at all. He scares the sht out of the government and its many cheerleaders as he has a social conscience and can’t be cowed and they’ve been completely shown up for what they are. Ditto when they came for Rashford.

I fear you’re being silly now to get the thread closed down and cry martyr.

You probably don’t want a history lesson but the rise of fascism in 30s Germany was a lot more than that. The demonisation of various groups was a slow building process. Nobody, not least Lineker, is alluding to what you’re suggesting and you’re probably just about bright enough to know that.

People might have a bit more sympathy for his social concerns if he hadn’t thrown them all in the bin for the money on offer by going to Qatar for the World Cup.
Where were his principles then?

Didn't he go as part of the BBC so not sure he got any extra money out of going, was just part of his job.

Wasnt the regime in Germany rounding up and persecuting people who were already resident there rather than people trying to get there ?
I may be wrong but it doesnt seem like an accurate comparison .

A lot of people do. Those that don’t were the same people moaning when he used his platform on the BBC for much of the pre-match coverage of the opening game to shine a light on Qatar rather than ‘sticking to football’. The bloke is never going to win with a certain segment of society and many of those people are going to either openly or secretly sympathise with the government’s rhetoric and that’s ok.

Yeah the German government Nuremberg race laws of 1935 for people living in Germany is exactly like it is in the Uk today.
