Swansea City v Cardiff City Matchday Thread : 2022/23 UPDATED ! 00:33 - Oct 19 with 12396 viewsNotLoyal

It’s the big old South Wales derby with nothing to play for but pride and prejudice. It’s LIVE on the tele box too.

Referee: DARREN BOND
Assistants: Shaun Hudson and Philip Dermott
Fourth Official : David Webb

The incredible Swansea City stat that the derby game against Cardiff has thrown up 18th Oct 2022 11:13
Last season we saw Swansea City put seven goals past Cardiff City over two games in the so called ‘South Wales’ derby. The first ever double was completed in the history of the fixture and Cardiff City were put to the sword over two one sided games. However, there’s a startling stat regards that first home game of last season almost a year ago to the day. 0

The Swansea v Cardiff derby game will set the pulses racing 20th Oct 2022 08:00
There is no longer a battle for domination in South Wales between Swansea City and Cardiff City. That was put to bed last season when the swans successfully beat their rivals over two games to record the first ever double in the history of the fixture. As they did so Swansea scored seven goals over those two games to completely embarrass the bluebirds. 0

Cardiff City battle cry before the derby game with Swansea 21st Oct 2022 11:48
Mark Hudson, the interim Cardiff manager and possibly in the ring and on the ropes this Sunday has issued a call to arms to his players. Someone who knows the Welsh derby and it’s meaning with over 160 appearances for the bluebirds is riding on the back of two defeats this week. 0

The only nit pick for me, if we just had that bit more quality out wide, we could do some damage, the rest of the team can more than hold their own.
[Post edited 23 Oct 2022 14:56]

The lack of pace out wide is definitely somewhere we can improve on. If I'm being honest I'm not really taken with Cundle either. Willing worker but i think both Pato and Ntcham would offer us more.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Should be VAR in the Championship in my opinion with all that's at stake.

VAR is coming to the Championship. They are doing an extension to Stockley Park to increase capacity to cater for it. Possibly ready for next season.

Btw Grimes was immense today

Just got back in from match, atmosphere was very good matching a profesional performance. I can honestly say that this Cardiff side is the worst i can remember, i cannot believe their only tactic today was have a go with long ball early doors then bank up and waste time.

The only negative today from me is Sorinola,he is definitely not what we need. The ammount of times we work the width for him only to waste chance to run at FB then slow it down and pass back to Ben. This was really frustrating the crowd around me today, i would have liked to have seen more minutes from Flex?

Yes, that was a strange, was expecting him from around the 70 mins mark. Guess he wanted to ensure no slip ups from 2-0 but he seems a very exciting player.

If there is any disappoint from the game its we just took our foot off the pedal and didn’t annihilate them. Too much pointless passing.

Cibdle is a cracking player. His work rate was instrumental for us today . I think he needs to believe in his own ability a bit more.

Grimes today was the player people eulogize over - let’s hope he can do this on a more consistent basis.

We could have easily scored a few more but I think our players were enjoying toying with them too much.

Just hope goal difference isn’t a factor later in the season, think we might have missed out on a few easy goals today.

It’s the easiest three points we’ll pick up all season and probably the easiest game since the last two times we’ve played them.

Great win well done Russ and the team....great at the end the whole Swans team Management support staff and players thanking the Jack Army

I guess we need to steer building a plinth for that statue

Lol!

Great day, great atmosphere at the ground, great result. Apart from the minor quibbles of the missed handball, the odd period of pointless passing around their area and the fact that Boss Brewery only had one working card machine after the game, I couldn't be happier. Even the weather turned out for the day.

If he can keep this up I'll chip in for the plinth fund myself :)

Cardiff crowded us out a lot but we must have had 4/5 decent chances Oba on another could have had 4,

Being pragmatic about our current situation we now have two very hard away games at Bristol City and Preston. How we navigate those games is Martin’s next test for championship dominance.

Cundle had a good game always looking for the ball. Lati tried his heart out I just don't see what Sorinola offers he dances about and looks for an easy option. As mentioned we missed a few chances today but I'd be more disappointed if we weren't creating. This a great little run we are on. Well done to all.

Great result, we never really had to turn it on. Our lack of interest in parts and game management was slightly frustrating, but we got the goals and easily saw the game out vs 10 men who never really looked like getting out of their own half.

Need to see a bit more going forward out of our two wingback coming up though, think they struggled a little today. Is Manning back anytime soon to provide some competition for Sorinola?
