Swansea City v Luton Town : Matchday Thread 22/23 14:54 - Aug 17 with 19397 views | NotLoyal | It’s a tricky game for the swans on Saturday against a Luton Town side which has enjoyed success over Russell Martin’s side in recent years. Realistically it could halogen again. Swansea City v Luton Town : Saturday Latest - Plus taking the knee becomes clearer 20th Aug 2022 08:05Swansea City take on Luton Town at 3pm today (UK time) looking to show they have learned from Tuesdays performance where they let slip a two goal lead against Millwall. Luton are second bottom in the championship with Coventry City bottom, however the sky blues have only played two games due to their pitch being unplayable. 0

To be fair, most fans would say they want better players, rather than more players. We certainly do.

Swansea City v Luton Town : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 12:11 - Aug 19 by Johnw102 | Play Woods, Cubango, Darling as a 3 with KN26 as sweeper and talker. Joey and Matt. MS and Ryan Was JP and MO up front |
Would like to see those three across the back with Naughton as the sweeper behind them. We played with the four in the back last year at times with either Grimes or Downes dropping back sometimes five when both did. Would leave Joe and Matt not needing to cover/stick at the back so much, only thing with your selection is leaving Ntcham out who I thought played quite well against Millwall.

As much as I dislike them, they are better than their position suggests. First 80 minutes performance against Millwall over the full game, will do nicely

Swansea City v Luton Town : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 09:29 - Aug 19 by RichardO | What would be your starting lineup for tomorrow's game given it cannot be the same as the last game with Lati out? Does he go with the team that played up to the 70mins substitutions on Tuesday or Would you play Cabango for the 90mins seeing as he did start and finish in the only game we have won this season (would have to been in a position he is comfortable in i.e. not on the left). or Given that Darling and Wood seem to have a bit of pace would you play them as full backs and keep Naughton and Carbango in the middle. Would mean a change of system but then again it might be called plan B (getting your better players on the field)? |
I'd pick... ------------------------- Benda --------------------------- ------------ Cabango ---------- Darling ---------------- Naughton ------------------------------------ Manning -------------------------- Allen ---------------------------- ---------- Ntcham ------------------ Grimes ------------ --------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Patterson /Congreve ------------------ ---------- Obafemi --------------- Piroe ----------------- Subs: Fisher (GK), Wood (CB), Sorinola (RB), Ogbeta (LB), Fulton (DM), Congreve/Patterson (CAM) & Cullen (ST) Martin will pick his system (& his keeper), so I hope he picks this team using his system... ------------------------- Fisher --------------------------- ----------------------- Cabango ------------------------- ------------ Wood --------------- Darling -------------- Naughton ------------------------------------ Manning -----------------Allen -------- Grimes ------------------ ------------------------ Ntcham -------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Obafemi --------------- Piroe ---------------- Subs: Benda (GK), Sorinola (RB), Ogbeta (LB), Fulton (DM), Congreve (CAM), Patterson (CAM) & Cullen (ST)

Don't think Martin will trust Cabango in the middle by himself that is why I suggested Naughton sweeping which would mean the Central midfielders wouldn't need to do too much work coming back and then trying to get forward but don't think Martin will change his system.

I was referring to comments from so called experts watching us ( Ian Walsh etc ) ? I agree as fans we always clammer for more signings. I believe our manager is on record as saying he has players he would like to bring in but ( in essence ) some have to move out first ? This to me does not suggest the budget that Dr P refers to ?

Play Darling in the middle then, he's very comfortable on the ball. Move Wood to LCB and Cabango RCB.

I still don’t know what you are talking about. I have just told you about a team with the highest budget in world football who still want players. It’s not an opinion if mine that we have a top 8 budget, is a statistical fact. If you want even more players then that budget increases and probably becomes a top 6 budget. It’s not a suggestion, it’s a fact.

As things currently stand ( IMHO) the squad we currently have will not finish top eight. I have tipped them for promotion of course but unless we strengthen the squad we will not do it. I feel so sorry for Lati, but he isn't the quality we need. Sorinola isn't up to scratch either. Should we lose Obafemi or Piroe ( or both ) through injury, we have no back up strikers/goalscorers. So that for me is four players we need. In our current position we have zilch budget for those signings

Think that will be the team Martin starts with just hope he can get his substitutions right and not put square pegs in round hole.

Leave Sorinalo out of that line up and leave a couple of parking cones on the touchline instead.
Swansea City v Luton Town : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 10:08 - Aug 20 with 1179 views | cadleigh | Tricky one to call. They were one of the first teams to properly suss us out last season (they just didn’t have the legs to see it through for 90 minutes), they have a smart manager and they finished in the play-offs last time whereas we were what - 15th? Hoping for a win and more signs of progress but I think this could be another draw.

Swansea City v Luton Town : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 10:09 - Aug 20 with 1179 views | jack247 | I think the sensible thing to do with Latibaudiere out is play a back four with Naughton on the right. I’d like to see Cabango start, but wouldn’t be overly bothered if it was Darling and Wood. Hopefully Allen has got 90 minutes in him. No reason not to be confident if the midfield plays like it did for most of the Milwall match.

The stubborn side of Martin will mean Sorinola will start. . Maybe today we will see the reason why Sorinola is at the club ?
