I agree, crazy to be running in this weather. Very dangerous can lead to hyponatremia. Chap from a local running club died recently during a half marathon, drank too much water on a hot day, didn't replace the salt. You'd be nuts to run during the day in these conditions

They were born there, they live in those conditions, their bodies are used to it and they’ve adapted, British people haven’t. It would be the same argument as telling someone to run a marathon without adapting their bodies, it’d be dangerous. Nothing to do with being soft. It’s common sense

I'm guessing most us can tell tales of working in extreme temperatures both high and low , the I guesstrick is knowing what can and shouldn't be done and act accordingly.

But in 15 day period where it was above 90 degrees there was a 20% increase in excess deaths and a huge spike in hospitalisations. That was a one off spike, the average temperature has been Increasing. Also in that year, globally, the temp was quite cool, it was a freak occurrence, it was along time ago. Have a look at the weather around the world, these extreme events are getting more and more regular. It’s nothing to do with people getting worse, it’s just being more sensible. Back then, there were no seat belts, no drink driving laws, world is just more sensible

So you reckon because the temperature in not just another decade but century was as high then the UK folk have developed the ability to withstand today's temperatures

It is hot, but it's also very nice. Reminds me of being abroad, we don't get many days like this. You could literally walk around now outside in just shorts. By the look, one more day and it's going to be a lot cooler.

Actually, we aren't getting more extreme weather. As for droughts;here is no meaningful increase from 1900 to 2016. In fact, the past decade has been relatively mild on the drought front, with several years below average. The same is true when it comes to tornadoes. The number of tornadoes in 2014 was below the number in 1954, N Same with Hurricanes According to the National Interagency Fire Center, there were 67,743 wildfires in 2016. That's down from more than 85,000 in 1986. The snowfall trend hasn't changed in decades, either,

I started driving in 1971 and the culture was very different then, we often had a drink and drove, often much too much. I'm not proud of it, its just the way it was back then. I was never breathalysed or any of my mates and we were often pulled for spot checks, young drivers driving too quickly, the police knew we had been drinking but never breathalysed. I will say we were never in an accident so this could have been a reason.
