Coventry City v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread AFTERMATH on 12:00 - Nov 3 by vetchonian | I cant believe it..we get a win away from home to a top six side who until last night were unbeaten at home and the board goes into meltdown....not because we won but because some decide to carry on with a campaign. I admit was one who criticised Martin at the start of the season...the way we were playing was not yielding results the focus on short passing and keeping possesion rather than looking ofr attacking openings was killing us. Many loved this as it was us going back to "the Swansea Way" yet as was discussed by many...Roberto was not possesion forcused his matra was get the ball down get it forwards and if you socre 3 we'll score 4, SOusa was more conserative and Brendan applied a mix....the possesion and passing "Swansea Way" myth was generated after THAT Fulham goal. IN fairness it seems that MArtin has tweaked his approach we are getting results we have now won 4 out of our last 5 games, we have played 5 of the current top 6 sides won 3 drawn 1 and lost 1...we are also watching some good football... No one is having a go at MArtin's football philosphy here ...what has been discussed is how we have moved from an insistence to always play short passes to mixing it....Daps opened the discussion about how we played more long balls second half then the whole thing erupted . I defended Cooper last season.....rememebr when even when we were winnin gposters came on here and moaned and criticised...they were and still are posters on this board and on PS who refer to our previous manager...and also do so using derogatory remarks..which shows their "dislike" of him due to his roots rather than the style and quality of the football he delivered....at the end of the day each individual is entitled to an opinion as I say at the gane you can find a different view of what we have watched from differednt people all sitting within seats of each other...even on here daps and Risca differed in their view of how we handled the ball in th esecond half...Daps believing we played more long balls and Risca belieiving we passed it out more... so that shows how we all see things differently even though we are watching the same thing! NOne of us who criticesd Martin are saying that we only win when we play Cooperball...what ever that was but he is history and we are now playing well and winning once more. Just beacuse we play long bals its not hoofball, we are often playing thorugh balls along the floor for Piroe to get onto, people really need to get over their Cooperitits as it has been described. Yes I like others some of whom no longer post I have noticed such as Lisa did question things at the start of the seasoin especially as there was a "euphoria" described by Lisa as akin to "The Emporers New CLothes"... We arre now winning we have some attractive play but it seems some still want to play a sport of trolling by deliberately goading certain posters into replying ....and then building the confrontation I got hacked off last season by some of the rubbish posted and still this season some is posted...like some of the myths and rewriting of history by your good self...but I dont contiunally hound individiuals like is happenin gon here and the other boardrd We are all supposed to suppport the same side...there will never be at ime when every one agrees on the style of play, individual players and discussions will occur but of late there is a "divisdion" amongst the fan base whihc is beocming as vile between each other as we have for those up the road...... I have over the years sat near people who during Brendans time would scream and shout to stop just passing it espeacially when in our defensive third with shouts of "forward"....I ve heard people moaning about JAson Scotland...Wayne Routledge, opniniosn on here differ over Naughton, Grimes,so it will never be posible for everyone to agree but the way in which there is almost becoming a witch hunt to target individuals is beyond me.... We won we beat a top six side unbeaten at home this season and yet all some folks wnat to do is belittle fellow fans and socre points because they didnt particularly like or enjoy the football of our previous manager. Most of the critics form the start of the season are actually praining MArtin but other predjuice is blinding them and biasing their view of what is actually being said... Its time to move on and its time for all the trolling to stop and trolling os what it is .....comments like " he will be stating Coopers result was better than ours tonight" prove that... |
Now THAT is a good post. | |

Who was the poster that erupted to my opinion on bringing the ball down and looking after it? Maybe a word in the shell like might but probably won't stop the havoc. Must stress I never brought up about us playing more long balls nor did I mention second half... My post is on page 4 if anyone wants to reference what I said.

Coventry City v Swansea City 2021/22 : Matchday Thread TUESDAY on 21:47 - Nov 2 by magicdaps10 | Big win that, another to add to the confidence. Would have been happy with 2 points from this game and Bournemouth(2 draws) so this is a +1 with the win. There is becoming a feeling that we might be onto something here, Martin really is bringing something to the table quicker than I imagined and with a swagger with it. My only downside, we need to keep to the passing game and not panic especially when we go ahead, 2 goals up away from home we just need to play our game, bring the ball down, pass it and let the opposition chase it. This Martin guy is a bit special isn't he or is it just me getting carried away with this result... Think Bournemouth might give us some answers, they need to lose at some point 🤔 |
This is the post that I supposedly said we played more long balls second half. Just wanted to bring it in here to show that vetch has mistakenly read it incorrectly, I would hope and trust that he isn't accusing me on starting anything so would just like to point out I never mentioned long balls or second half.

This just proves how we can all "see things" differently, I alos shows how these dyas the "discussions" get out of hand. I correct myself the discussion opened up following your post as shown and the post by Risca immediaitely below that one which had "conflicting " views then the boards residient stat man...who like me prefrs to use data rather than eomtion to reinforce an "arguement" became specific. SO yes you didnt actually mention the second half.....or long balls....but what are you inferring when you talk of "My only downside, we need to keep to the passing game and not panic especially when we go ahead, 2 goals up away from home we just need to play our game, bring the ball down, pass it and let the opposition chase it." But my point stands it is time to move from these petty "fights" between us as fans after all we are supposed to be on the same side....just because some have criticised this season when things were not going well doesnt mean we dont support ...its the same as those who didint like Cooper ball.....

And if you interpret my post to which I now realise you are referring as a defence of Cooper it reinforces my point ....you like others are allowing your dislike and Cooper and his style to blind and bias what you read. But if you read the post the Tawe Troll is referring to is it really a defence of Cooper? Yes I have mentioned him a lot but others like this poster I am questioning seems to have an unhealthy obsession and brings him up frequently in non related threads to "abuse" him.. Its time we moved on we have a new manager...and time we as fans united we wont always agree but as my posts say there is becoming a vitriol posted by some supposedly fans of our own that would normally be saved for the likes of them up the road....

When there's such a change in style it's only natural to compare present to previous.

Not disagreeing at all. The site was totally supportive if Cooper, of course others were not, even when he was here. However, that’s what the forum is for. Opinions. I think we carried around 11 personal articles on him. His ability with young players, and what he has learned at Swansea will put him in good stead as a manager for years to come I’m sure. He is an incredible man manager for me as well. I have to say IF we compare Martin’s football to Cooper’s I know I would prefer Martin. But then recent results should change the minds of the most doubtful of his abilities. It’s a natural thing to compare the current manager and the last one. For me, we’ve been incredibly fortuitous to have three excellent managers since relegation from the premier league. And for that the people who run the club should be praised.

Oh I'm sorry. You were serious? Vetchy, you react like a teenage girl when someone disses their favourite boyband if anything remotely disparaging is said about the last two seasons and the incumbent at the time. The entire magnum opus post was in response to someone referring to "Cooperball", and it ain't the first time you've done it. You can't help yourself, but you should try. You'd be happier.

Beeeep beeeep daps reversing. Daps reversing. In response to his initial comment, I told him that we kicked it long more in the first half and he went on a rant that he will trust his eyes and not the match facts. He then went on to slate “long ball” interpretation. He’s finally settled on the fact that he didn’t mean long now after all. What a wonderful world.
