Dale Trust membership 21-22 19:55 - May 11 with 16539 views | DaleiLama | Tip of the cap to Boromat who posted the Trust membership tweet on the AGM thread - I started this thread (which hopefully admin will pin) to encourage anyone and everyone reading this to part with a fiver to join. Confession - I have never been a Trust member before, but am now. This, imho, may just be the most important season to become a member since the Trust's inception, since I believe they will have a vital role during the closed season in determining how our club is run next season. Like many, I had reservations about how "impartial" the Trust was (based entirely on rumour and hearsay and not on fact I concede), but the actions of the Trust recently have shown them in their true colours - for the fans by the fans. Again, imho, the more fans the Trust represents, the louder their voice has to be heard. I would urge all Daleys everywhere who care about our club to join and part with a fiver to support the Trust team representing us. Dale Trust membership 21-22 on 13:58 - May 12 by pioneer | I think you may be off target with your diagnosis. I dontthink you can say the CEO does not love RAFC. He has been a strong supporter over many years, much longer than many who post on here. I dont know him personally but I do know of his support through thick and mainly thin over many years. The problem is, I believe, he thought his love for the club meant he couldsuccessfully run the club (havent we all had such dreams at some stage). Sadly reality didnt kick in and circumstances allowed him to pursue that dream and apparently there was nobody to tell him...dont be stupid, what makes you think you could successfully run RAFC. I suppose its all about checks and balances and there was no one to stop a dreamer pursuing his dreams when he had neither the experience or skills (sounds a bit like some of our managerial appointments as well - Joyce, Eyre, BBM) And I suspect the worse the situation has got the harder he has ‘tried’ to to see his dreams become reality....yes its become a downward spiral. Its a lack of competence for the job and a lack of oversight in seeing its beyond his ability.. Tommy Cannon didnt love the club ...the potential American investors dont love the club but I dont think you can say, for all his many faults that the CEO doesnt love the club....thats not a criteria for a successful CEO. He was once one of us. He needed saving from himself and there has been nobody in the leadership of the club able or willing to do that. |
"but I do know of his support through thick and mainly thin over many years." Really. How? In all my days, I've found that Directors who say they are lifelong fans aren't. If you bumped into me you wouldn't start off with "I've been coming since 1968". You'd say, "god it's been shite this year". About 15 years ago our CEO joined the Trust Exiles and I got to know him quite well. When I first met him I was surprised I'd never ever seen him before. I expected he would be a familiar face, perhaps one of the Swansea 45, certainly someone who was at Torquay that December Tuesday night to see Alan Johnson nod home from a corner in a rare 1-0 win. The fans sort of know each other. I can be strolling though Asda looking for the best offer on Felix (nothing's too good for my pussy), and I'll hear an "up the dale" from a passer by, who I recognise. We'll give each other a look which says, "yeah, I know you're Dale, and I know you know I'm Dale." It's probably a similar look shared by patients at Christies! The point I'm making is where was he in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's? Is there anyone here who ever saw our CEO pay in? And, while we are at it, Andrew Kelly and Rawlinson? All big fans you know!

Swansea 45, wow, what about the Swansea 5 and the southend 5 in the 1970s? When an ex Noots County owner says the Rochdale fans come in a taxi he would have been close to the truth. We dont all shop in your local asda, or even live in the borough. I do believe that anyone wishing to stand for election to the board should declare if they have ever been a season ticket holder or made sponsorship contributions. Not doing so wouldnt rule them out but it would give shareholders a better idea of whether they were Rochdale supporters or simply folks looking to become a football director wherever an opportunity arises.

Abso-bloody-lutely. I know I keep banging the drum, but Trust membership by fans has probably never been more important than now. The Trust is openly and publicly making pledges which should be backed with support from fans everywhere. It will never be a one size fits all, but it will represent the majority of fans as stated.
