Just about catching my breath after that. On reflection, a draw is a fair result, though we were simply sensational in the first half and looked like scoring every time we poured forward.
Looked a bit tired in the second half, which is understandable given how well we pressed and though I don’t like to kick a man whilst he’s down, Dooley was undoubtedly at fault for the equaliser and just generally struggled to get up to speed.

Finished 4-4
Over the 90 minutes you have to say they deserved to get a point and also missed some sitters. However gutting that 3 of their goals came from poor defending with the last one horrendous. I hope McLaughlin can stay fit because he was decent against a good attack. We struggled in the centre half position the whole game. Roberts will play better with EOC or even McShane but not sure about with Jim.
7 goals in 2 games but only 2 points or put another way 2 brilliant halves & 2 poor ones. I'd rather focus on maintaining a goal threat and hope we can tighten at the back. Last thing I want to see agains Wigan is focusing on the clean sheet & possession. At least we have been entertained via ups and downs in the last 2 games

We take our most creative player off and neither strengthen defence or replace any creativity. We were pressing at the end and still he couldn't get it into the box. BBM got that wrong and we drop the points when we need them.

Before the game I would have taken a point.
At half time the game was so open I wanted it to stop there
At full time it probably finished as a fair result neither team deserved to win that game. You could argue we made our goals where as a couple of there's were given to some extent.
Our tactics at the start of the game were perfect. Second half we didn't anticipate their changes and they mauled us. All they had to do was press and press at the right times and target our left side.
Not that we needed it but more evidence that we need a left back. I do wonder whether Dunne should be given an opportunity he's definitely got some physicality about him for a younger lad and that's something we miss at the back. | |
