Lewis Hamilton 21:45 - Jun 9 with 3566 views | Darran | This is the kind of thing that Sir Geoff Palmer was getting at earlier when he was saying people need to know history their. This bloke drives for a company that used use forced slaves supplied by the Nazis in their factories during the war and he also advertises suits made by a company that supplied uniforms for the SS. This is a mess. https://www.bbc.com/sport/amp/formula1/52967675?__twitter_impression=true

Lewis Hamilton on 22:01 - Jun 9 with 2374 views | builthjack | It's gone a bit crazy. Raheem Sterling said there needs to be more black footballers. Yet the Premier League is made up of 32% black players. The UK has a 3.5% black population. He seems a bit dull to me.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Many people speaking out don’t know what their talking about. If you remove all references to slavery are people still going to talk about it? It’s all gone a bit sad for me.

Lewis Hamilton on 22:07 - Jun 9 with 2351 views | BrynCartwright | It's only people and individuals that can be racist, not businesses. None of the rabid racists that ran Mercedes or Hugo Boss back in WW2 are still alive.

Once again, nobody wants to "jetwash"(?) history. And working for present day Mercedes and Hugo Boss hardly makes Hamilton a hypocrite. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No it doesn't. Andy Brown doesn't understand the word hypocrite.

The thread where we discussed how anti racist protesters wanted to put up a plaque by the statue explaining the history of Edward Colston? That one?
Lewis Hamilton on 23:23 - Jun 9 with 2165 views | FieryJack | Andy Brown - never heard of him. Sounds like a right chunt, though. By his logic I'd have to throw my brand new Bosch fridge/freezer in the skip tomorrow, since that company also used Jewish slave labour in the war. And, while we're at it, Spike Milligan was famously disgusted that anyone would have any Japanese products in their possession, after their troops' vile behaviour in WW2 (check out what they did in Singapore + they used to use live POWs for bayonet practice). Anyone on here who owns, or has ever owned, a product manufactured by a Japanese company needs to take a very hard look at themselves, apparently. Guess that's all of us then. A Brown = Tw*t Extordinaire.

That's a completely false argument. I expect the greatest destruction of statues in the 20th century took place in Eastern Europe in the 1990s, when huge statues of Lenin were tumbling all over the place. I don't think there's any chance of of the Polish, the Czechs, the Hungarians etc forgetting their hated communist pasts. If you want to know your history, forget the statues and just read the effing history books.

The Public Library. Possibly the greatest innovation of all time.

I couldn’t agree with you more. To give a child a library card is to grant them access to every thought that was ever worth recording.

Alan Bennett would agree. He's an acerbic defender of such institutions. I doubt anyone would ever have heard of him were it not for his childhood visits to his local library in the rough area of Armley, Leeds - probably now closed.
