That's not so out there actually. It's either continue this season and have a big gap, or effectively cram 56 games into 9 months (with a multiple-week break inbetween seasons). A big gap as you say gives room for the Euros and other international football, and it also lets the domestic and european cups finish their ongoing tournaments.
They could even start the 2021 season in July or earlier if they wanted less midweek games or the season to finish in April and give players a longer break. [Post edited 19 Mar 2020 14:38]

Every option will need to be looked at and wouldn't say it shouldn't happen,
I'd think most lower league clubs would struggle with only about 4 home games from now to August 2021 without a big help from the FA and EFL etc. |  | | |

I'd be happy if they even did the Euros between Feb-April 2021, give the players a 'normal' summer break and then back into the domestic season in August 2021.
They're going to be having a very long break this season before they get back into it. | |

Agreed. I can't see if this season being declared null and void either. Haven't most of the clubs in the top places in the Championship already said they'll go the legal route if that happens? Not to mention what Liverpool and other big clubs across Europe going for titles and the CL would do. |  |

Your point is valid but my questioning of whether the FA / EFL or whoever should hand out money to bankrupt clubs such as Bury in this case would be seen a precedent and other clubs will then deliberately mismanage their club financially in an effort to get promoted knowing that they’ll be bailed out. | |

As far as I'm aware SCFC has never been a community asset. It's always been owned by somebody, as have most clubs out there. |  |

Bolton were bailed out with the help of a 2M loan from the PFA, despite overspending much like Bury did. Had they not received the loan, Bolton would be under a new name and ready to play in the 10th tier next season. The EFL could've communicated with the PFA to get a deal done for Bury to be saved. | |

Cancelling the season with 3/4s of it already played is not an option. It'll get finished it's safe to do so (maybe behind closed doors) and then depending on when that is next season might have to be truncated - maybe everyone only plays eachother once instead of home and away and/or there's no league cup or trophy. |  | | |
