Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 18:09 - Jan 30 by Northernr | Depressing maybe, but not staggering. - Three weeks ago they were going to loan out Masterson, but he's come in and done well, so now Leistner has gone. We've got the same amount of centre backs we thought we wqere going to have, it's just different ones. - If Leistner is on the reported £20,000 a week then half a year of that is £500,000 odd, which presumably/hopefully his new club is swallowing a chunk of. - Presumably/hopefully a permanent deal is in the offing in the summer, maybe a transfer fee for a player the manager obviously doesn't rate. - We've got 38 points, we're not going up or down, they've clearly dedcided to justg sack this season off and try and save as much money as possible for next season. That's depressing, a lot of people are angry about it, difficult to sell season tickets to people while doing that. The key now is to make it clear how this will come back to us in the summer and beyond, and that it's not always going to be like this. |
Very fair riposte. This is probably just the natural QPR pessimist in me thinking we could well be nervously looking over our shoulders in six weeks or so with one senior striker nearing the end of a loan which is rarely a recipe for success let alone the defence. Delighted of course Masterson has come through but it’s still awfully early to be in a position where he pretty much has to play.
Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 19:36 - Jan 30 with 3381 views | Boston | I liked him, so he had good and bad games, that's football,. I'm not crying at his departure though (haven't since Phill Parkes left), because he wasn't going to be around for long anyways and my attention with club players is really focused on other squad members. I wish him well, hope CM can do the job.

Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 13:24 - Jan 30 by rsonist | Timothy Eyoma should do I reckon. Oh wait was that one of those not completely serious posts I hear about. Toni was definitely off in the summer, would already be long gone if Warbs got his way with McKenna, so with Masterson coming through I guess we're putting the cue on the rack for the season and saving ourselves 6 months of a (pretty decent iirc) wage. |
Why are we still signing players on wages we cant afford to pay?.

Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 19:25 - Jan 30 by Northernr | Real life and soul of the party today you are. Millwall away this season, Leistner was fantastic. |
The.... pity party? Is that the one you mean? I'm sorry but we can't diligently preach the FFP gospel and then whinge on the flimsiest pretexts when it's time to do the necessary. Leistner has had his moments and has also very much been part of the problem (more through the fault of the club/coaching since the day we handed him that big contract - McClaren wanted passing CBs too! - but still). Good luck to him, Wells, and Scowen but let's not turn them into legends all of a sudden cos we're worried about a thin squad for a few dead rubber months.

Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 18:19 - Jan 30 by paulparker | If only we took Friday nights game more seriously we would have perhaps been able to keep Leinster and be 250k up into the bargain |
This is some spin. "Been able to keep"? We didn't let Toni go because we didn't get a cup windfall. We're choosing to let him go because the offer's on the table and it suits us to do it early.

If his contract is up at the end of the season and he is valued at £2.25m why didn't we sell him?

I think he signed a 3 year deal with us, so his contract wouldn’t be up until summer 2021. We could still get something for him.

Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 23:12 - Jan 30 with 2750 views | BklynRanger | So he's got a year after this loan move. Possibly looking to get him back in the shop window in Germany for a permanent move in the summer, who the fcuk knows. Quite pissed off about it either way - our best and most consistent defender by far regardless of what's been asked of him. Always seemed the epitome of the 'right sort'. Fcuk sake.
Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 00:07 - Jan 31 with 2661 views | VancouverHoop | It's really too bad the move couldn't have waited until the Summer. Our defence is fragile enough already. But Koln are in a relegation battle, so maybe we're getting a better deal now than we would later.
Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 02:01 - Jan 31 with 2588 views | timcocking | Toni off as well? Blimey. I'd say Leistner was exactly the sort of man the job in the Championship if things did get really ugly. Barbet has been out for ages/a liability when not out and Masterson is a youngster with about three games under his belt, could yet be rubbish or injury prone. Let's hope they know what they're doing and this doesn't turn out to be a little premature. We've now, what is it, one striker and no substitute centre backs? Hmmm.
Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 09:26 - Jan 31 with 2484 views | francisbowles | There were many of this group saying that Masterson shouldn't be sent out on loan and should get his games here. Moving Toni on facilitates this happening.

Know what you're saying but I don't think it 'facilitates' it - he's got Hall, Barbett and Cameron as his potential partners, none of whom are strangers to injury or dips in form. Just seems hard to imagine we won't be shaking our heads at times wondering if it was worth it for the sake of a wage saving exercise - if that's what this is.
Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 09:37 - Jan 31 with 2432 views | 2Thomas2Bowles | At this stage of the season Toni wants assurances about first-team football and that is something we cannot guarantee any player," boss Mark Warburton told the club website. "This move gives Toni his opportunity to play every week and we wish him well What BS by MW, he is under contract, in the middle of the season, has no right to demand anything.

We all know MW did n't rate him from Day 1, is 4th out of 4, and is reputedly our highest earner. We have had no offers despite him being available and unlikely a Championship side would buy him based on performances to date. So best likely return on our outlay will be in Germany, where standard is lower and we may get a taker, hence MW talking him up, as we would want him to.

Toni Leistner to FC Koln? on 16:36 - Aug 24 with 1689 views | Northernr | I'll praise them and stick up for them when they deserve it. But going all out to sign a centre back from Germany on what, for us now, is a big wage one summer and then within 12 months make it clear you want him around so little you'll basically do anything to shift him, then end up paying him some money to leave, because you changed manager once and the new boss didn't fancy him is piss poor. It's the sort of sht that was going on before, it's the sort of sht a DOF system is meant to prevent.

Your talking to much sense Clive If you look at our transfer policy in buying foreign players the last few years it’s been nothing short of abysmal Les and co couldn’t of picked a worse bunch of players pretty much all of them have been unsettled Why have we not done our homework on them ?
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
