Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

It's just so much better having a 'professional' in the Chair. I have no doubt that he means what he says, and, without getting away from the fact that the Americans are not really true Swansea City fans, Trevor Birch has been like a breath of fresh air. Communication skills, something beaky was seriously short of.

In a side note has anyone else heard he’s taken privileges away from JvZ? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I hope that's the case, apart from the immorality of it, he's one seriously loose cannon.

I wonder if it is a replacement for Pearlman in terms of the commercial department?

Like this guy more and more. One of the biggest mistakes the Americans made when taking over was not making this sort of appointment sooner. Instead, we had the amateurish and egotistical HJ and his cling ons riding what was left of the gravy train
Finally, we have a professional who knows how the whole of a football club runs and without the ego!

"We managed to secure substantial transfer fees for Dan James and Oli McBurnie,"
I liked the pronoun, we, in that sentence - no big ego overload, says a lot about the man, in my opinion.

Fair play to him mind he’s made a great positive out of nobody wanting Ayew and Baston,he should get a job writing speeches for Boris. 😂

That report was a work of art, even signing it with simply "Trevor". I agree, British politics could certainly use him!

To be fair I haven't yet found any reason to fault Trevor Birch since he came in, getting 15-18 million for James was outstanding work (especially if the rumours of a sell on clause are accurate). The McBurnie sale was inevitable when Sheffield Utd came back in late in the transfer window but at least once the writing was on the wall we didn't waste any time getting it over the line so that we could look at alternatives.

I have no doubt that there were offers for Ayew and Baston (especially after the good starts both have made in August) but it pleases me that Birch was not prepared to weaken the team by accepting derisory offers when we were not in any position to add to the squad.

The next big test of Birch's credentials and his promises to the fans are if/when we are still in a strong promotion position come the January transfer window, will he give the green light to reinforce the squad if needed and will he continue to resist any offers for Ayew and Baston?

We "wasted" weeks on Oli getting the bid up from £10m to £20m (incl. clauses).

There would have been angry mobs with pitchforks if we let Oli go for £10m

And, there is nothing better to make a player 'rediscover-form' and 'professionalism' than a "necessity be the mother of intention" scenario and attitude .

Playing for future prospects, future signing on fees, future pay rises, future contracts and need to be in the shop window can indeed have a miraculous effect for some.

Argus!

Agree, also taking credit for Huw Jenkins work on the James
And mcbernie money.
Can't complain about birch so far.But all these players coming
Through are the work of the old board.
If birch and the board get us promotion and keep us in the premiership for
7 seasons and win a major trophy and break our transfer record many times.
I will be the first to congratulate them.
Ps what a great signing Rutledge has been.coys
