Of course, but these are the the next "cabs off the rank" if form dips or injuries strike. Nice to see "Gog" Phil Salt get a good Knock on sky last night for Sussex. Poor old aneurin Donald still getting out lbs way too easily.

There's more than 4/5 in that team going to play in the Ashes ... More like 7/8, with Stokes and Buttler returning. There's not much more to add to that top order, unless England are worried about Roy's technique opening against Australia's quickies. Then it could be Denly and Burns opening, Root at No3 ( He hates the idea ) and Roy at No4. England are struggling in the bowling dept with Mark Wood likely to miss the first 4 Tests, Jimmy Anderson could miss the first and England are really worried about Archer lasting 5 days with his side strain. Burns, Denly, Root, Roy, Stokes, Buttler, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, Broad, Anderson (??? ) [Post edited 25 Jul 2019 10:29]

It would have been nice seeing Leach getting a ton. Never forget Thorpe stealing the runs off Alex Tudor

Thanks . Can’t beat the atmosphere in the 1st test in an ashes series. Would have gone up for the 1st day but it’s the grand child’s birthday 🎂.
