Same here. City are a veritable nothing club and their fans need to remember they only stopped being a nothing club a few years ago when for no reason at all but pure luck an actual country decided to buy them.

They play nice football but in my eyes they’re absolutely anti-football to me - the way they rose from absolute nothingness to winning everything via pure money and nothing else represents an absurd caricature of the modern game.

As you can guess, I’m very much ‘anyone but City’ (or Chelsea, for similar reasons - plus they’re all racists).

The fact that they can’t fill their stadium up for every game is proof that what you are saying is correct. It might be absurd coming from a Rochdale fan but it still stands to reason. I mean I remember when Sterling signed for them from LFC a few years ago and one of my city mates wrote on Facebook “at least he’s getting chance to play for a big club now” with no tongue in cheek or sense of irony.

City will never be a footballing institution like Liverpool, Manchester UTD, Arsenal, Celtic or Rangers are. Got to disagree a little with the Chealsea bashing though I always thought they were a bit of a glamour side and to be fair to their oligarch he’s there every week.

I was at Anfield tonight and I don't expect to experience an atmosphere like that again. What a game. What support.
Also, not related to that, at a game there last season I pulled my hankie out my pocket to wipe my nose and the Scouser next to me quickly pointed out I'd also dropped a tenner on the floor. Stereotypes are easy to make.

Sterling signed for a club to win trophys, something that he's done with regularity whilst at City again had he stayed at Liverpool hed have nothing but a few silver medals.

It's a bit of a ridiculous statement folk who hate City simply for winning things and for spending big money, its something that's ALWAYS gone in for decades.

While we talk about spending, would anyone care to remind us all which team contains the most expensive keeper in the world and the most expensive defender in the world, yet continually cry about other clubs spending loads of money, talk about hypocritical, that's the scouse mentality right there.

Very bitter that. You are talking like City have come from nothing. Do you have the same feelings about money being put into Bournemouth and Wolves? Yes a slightly smaller scale but all the same.

Roma did pretty much the same thing to Barcelona last season. Is it just that Barcelona get too complacent on big leads in the Nou Camp and panic when teams start coming back. They turned up last night thinking they'd score and Liverpool would need 5 and then sh!t themselves when the second goal went in.

Not taking away the performance from Liverpool but people making it out that this doesn't happen and is some form of miracle. Something almost identical happened 12 months ago.

No team in the history of the competition has overturned a 3-goal deficit in the semi-final. To do that against arguably the best team in Europe, containing the player that is widely regarded to be the best player ever, is something special. Add to that, Liverpool were missing two of their most prominent players and their main goal threat. Trying to play down or belittle what happened is petty. Credit where it's due.

Liverpool were outstanding and deserve all the plaudits. It was an incredible performance, an incredible result and regardless of the current League situation, Liverpool have been the 'stand out' team this season.

I hope they go on and win the European cup.

No genuine football fan can fail to admire that result, it was about belief and teamwork. Compare and contrast with the situation at Manure - arrogant over hyped individuals who do nothing for each other as a team, posturing and standing still, more worried about their social media images, their pathetic attempts at fashion lines (Lingard, Sanchez , Martial) - they think they are fashion icons and as a result results have been what they are - big lesson there and obvious to see as an outsider.

On another point, to read the majority of posts on a ManU forum (Red Cafe), wanting them to lose against Citeh so Liverpool would not win title was shocking - their twisted fans are so anti-scouse they would rather lose than see Liverpool win , they talk about protecting number of 'league championships' won in the past , ... tinpot fans.

Well done Liverpool, passion and substance over image and posturing.

It was obviously a monumental task and they've done unbelievable to do it. I wouldn't put it ahead of their night in Istanbul as some people are doing though.

They're effectively 180 minutes from winning the Premier League and Champions League which would make them the stand out team in world football this season. They're also 180 minutes from winning absolutely nothing, again. Klopp needs to get over his final hoo doo in the CL. If he does then it could see Liverpool becoming perennial winners, if he doesn't then it could be a massive blow to confidence to lose a second consecutive CL final and to potentially not win the PL whilst only losing once and getting 97 points.

So apt that the cheat Suarez's sly kick on Robertson meant Wijnaldum had to come on and score the 2 quick goals that changed the game! Karma.

The United money appears to have had the opposite result.

Great performance by Liverpool last night. For some reason, I believed they could do it - although I still didn't expect it. They have a manager who suits the club and, coupled with the Anfield atmosphere, they could...could... turn anyone over.

United have broken more British transfer records down the years than any other team. For anybody to have a go at certain 'other' clubs for spending money or buying success is a bit daft.

It’s fairly accurate actually. Since City were taken over they’ve spent far more money (£1.4 billion since 2008!) than any of their competitors. To suggest the fact that they’re now one of the top sides in world football is down to anything but that figure is simply irrational.

All PL clubs earn/spend a ridiculous amount of money in my eyes. Yes, I used to think it was just Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool, but Fulham, Everton etc are not averse to throwing wads of cash around.

I'm not a fan of it, but for any PL club to have a go at another for flashing the cash is a bit foolish.

To be fair to Liverpool they have sold players for decent money in recent seasons, especially Suarez (£65m) and Coutinho (up to £140m). The other clubs haven't done that but still spend big.

Who was the last player City, United or Chelsea sold for decent money?

Congrats to Liverpool that must have been an amazing night.

Just how bad were Barca though?

The defending for the final 3 goals in the second half was shocking.

Barca actually looked like they had given up defending as soon as the second went in.

On the basis they might only lose once in the league this year and still not win the prem I have no issues if they lifted the Champions league.

City and Liverpool with one big trophy each seems about right to me after seeing that performance last night.
