James Agent Speaks - Sums us up 09:58 - Feb 1 with 14337 views | 34dfgdf54 | Also confirms what we all knew. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/02/01/leeds-furious-swansea-pull-plug- James’s agent, David Manasseh, told Telegraph Sport: “Swansea made no attempt to keep the player and at the first sign of money they couldn’t show him the door quickly enough. It is very disappointing but the player is philosophical about it.” James had been Bielsa’s No 1 target in January and is likely to return for him in the summer. Championship leaders Leeds face second-placed Norwich at Elland Road on Saturday.

£70 --- looks like the loss of parachute payments + the debt we owe. Don't know if that's right figure though.

James Agent Speaks - Sums us up on 12:44 - Feb 1 by chad | “Leeds agreed, changed their minds, messed about” Be interested in details / source for this From what I have read it seems the terms were already agreed and we did a U turn Of course delighted we still have Dan and he has little choice but to do his best But if the lad was left for hours his head already at Leeds no idea what is going on it is totally unprofessional and as far as it is possible to get from building loyalty and team spirit. |
Everything I've seen from Nixon and Phil Hay (Leeds journo) says the terms were being sorted out in the final hours with Leeds first proposing the loan instead of transfer, then not being willing to pay the loan fee up front, then only £750k of it... at which point we stopped answering the phone. He shouldn't have been sent up there without terms fully agreed. Can't have a player going through a medical without something on paper. Their fault for going after a player they clearly couldn't afford to pay for. Made promises they couldn't keep.

Exactly the situation we could have found ourselves with the boy from Brentford in the summer. No offence spratty but some of our fans are constantly looking to blame the club for everything even when they are not at fault.

Dan has been wanting a new deal for sometime to be on parity with fellow youngsters Rodon, Roberts, Fulton (all of whom recently have had new deals). If he is offered a new deal on similar terms to the above I am sure he will sign. |
Why would he now sign a contract for a club who has completely fu*&ed him over and denied him the opportunity to move to a big club with Premier League football on the horizon, under a world renowned manager? You'll be a good bet for relegation next season, with your rookie manager, in-fighting at boardroom level and unhappy, want-away players. Ta ta

Money. If he doesn't want a new contract he can keep his current one for 18 months. He's well paid but not as well paid as he could be here. Bigger fish than Leeds will come calling soon enough. And they'll be able to pay more than £750k for him.

He's been a part of an EPL club for 5 years you simple looking tvvat. He couldn't break into our side then when his two under 23 team mates did and he won't be ready next season. But we'll keep working with him so one day he will be ready and you can check his progress from afar. So tooddle pip Lad.

He’s only world renowned because he’s an absolute mental nut case. He’s never achieved much, won bugger all and stormed out of clubs in a huff on a regular basis. This time a few years ago you lot were worshipping Kyle f*cking Bartley so forgive us if we don’t take your football knowledge too seriously.

Are you in absolute denial? Phil Hay †@PhilHayYEP 15h15 hours ago Essentially, deal was agreed, James passed his medical, was sat at ER from about 6pm waiting to be unveiled and Swansea went quiet. Stopped responding to contact and 11pm went by. No deal sheet in with the EFL so as far as this window is concerned, James to Leeds isn't happening. Phil Hay †@PhilHayYEP 13h13 hours ago the version I've been given is that Leeds originally planned to pay a £1.5m loan fee for James in June. Swansea then asked for £750,000 up front with the rest to come at the end of the season. Leeds were willing to agree to that. Leeds were willing to agree to the 750k up front and we didn't respond. We've treat the lad terribly.

What part of that contradicts what I said? It was a transfer up until yesterday morning. Then they only came as far as paying £750k (and the transfer fee was going to be spread over 3 years). Insulting offer.

Because we agreed to the original terms of the deal (which seems to be 1.5 million paid at the end of the season). That's why the deal then went ahead and James had a medical and was set to be unveiled. We then changed our minds and asked Leeds for the 750k up front to finalise the deal, to which they then agreed. We didn't respond. You're saying Leeds were only willing to go up to 750k. This is what WE asked them to do and they agreed. We moved the goal posts and didn't respond when they agreed to this change. The lads been treat terribly by us and will no doubt refuse any further contract negotiations. [Post edited 1 Feb 2019 14:06]

Why is Phil Hay suddenly the oracle on all football? He’s basically Yorkshire’s equivalent of Wathan.
