Hard to tell. I thought a lot of the players looked tired, last week was obviously very hard but they were all putting in a good 45 minute shift. J.Williams played reasonably well. He did a lot of running and put in some good crosses. He also made some silly mistakes a wayward cross, losing the ball in a very deep position but on the whole I think he did ok in the left wing/wing back position.
His problem this season will be if Hill sees that as the best position for him in this system he'll have to get into the team ahead of Matty Done. [Post edited 18 Jul 2018 11:45]

Talking of players playing out of position, didn't Hilly say a few pre-seasons ago something about having players play in positions that are connected to their natural positions (ie a right winger at right back). Think his logic was that they could better see what their teammates require of them when they're playing a competitive game? [Post edited 18 Jul 2018 14:26]

I also saw the whole game and thought most of them looked short on energy and sharpness with the odd exception. The 45 minutes was enough and it looked like they'd been told they had that time to use every inch of energy they had. All gave lots of effort but most would have struggled to keep it up for much more than the 45 minutes. This isn't a dig it's early in preseason and they've just traveled back from a hardworking preseason camp so to be expected. The energy they showed was impressive considering. The tiredness showed mostly in the odd wayward pass and lack of concentration a few times. | |

In fact, how can any of us sat in the stand tell if a player looks tired or not?

I feel like you're arguing for the sake of arguing now it's only my opinion on the game and what I observed wrongly or rightly. You haven't added any opinions of your own but only disagreed with mine. And your misquoting me that first quote is missing the word 'considering' it makes quite a big difference.
