Bournemouth beating Arsenal 15:04 - Jan 14 with 4714 views | acejack3065 | Bad, bad news. We are gonna need to pull off some of these kind of results just to keep up with the chasing pack. We are easily the worst team in the division.
Bournemouth beating Arsenal on 15:07 - Jan 14 with 3323 views | E20Jack | Looking ominous. Southampton are the team in 17th 4 points ahead of us. I firmly do not believe they will get relegated so looking beyond them to 16th and the gap is 6pts with us having worse GD. Thats big. Need these signings to stand any chance.

All those smart financial decisions made in the summer coming up trumps for us ain’t they.
Bournemouth beating Arsenal on 15:26 - Jan 14 with 3178 views | jasfan | They're probably more focused on the second leg of the League Cup semi final against Chelsea with some players being kept for that. I guess their big guns will be available for our game with them towards the end of the month.
Bournemouth beating Arsenal on 15:27 - Jan 14 with 3157 views | sainthelens | Why don't people stop worrying about other teams, we can't do fck all about it them ! 37 points keeps us up, let's concentrate and start finding ways to win another 6/7 games and the odd draw. Wouldn't want to be in the trenches with most on here.

They were decisions that had to be made unfortunately, the sooner you understand that the better. They would be made all over again with my backing too, if it is the selling you are talking about. The summer was not the problem, it was the last 3 summers of poor tramsfer dealings that was the problem. Nice to see our Jordan pop up with another too. [Post edited 14 Jan 2018 15:33]

Your 37 point estimate is based on other teams losing though. Its no different. The more others win the higher the target.

This summer was the same as the other three. Disastereous.
Bournemouth beating Arsenal on 15:37 - Jan 14 with 3070 views | dickythorpe | I was hoping Bournemouth were a side that would go on a run of poor results, there's still time. They lost 6 on the bounce last season towards the end. Anyone from 10th down is involved in this relegation battle, so chin up Jacks!

This is a fallacy that keeps getting repeated on here. There is no fixed finishing line (in terms of points) that makes a team safe, it is all about relative position vis-a-vis others, so that what they do is crucial.

Not the selling side. We sold a player with months left on his contract and a player refusing to play for us for a ridiculously ludicrous sum. We had a prime chance to get away from the stiffled tactics that got us into this position in recent years by replacing them with players capable of playing a better brand of football - we failed on that front.

My point still stands. Was the same white flag merchants on here this time last year. I've absolutely no faith in Jenkins and co. but let's see who we can get in, I think it all boils down to 2/3 signings. This is NOT over.

What point still stands? Your point was we should stop worrying about other teams results and instead focus on a liquid points target which moves depending on other teams results.

Jesus wept. 37/38 points WILL be enough.
Bournemouth beating Arsenal on 15:44 - Jan 14 with 2972 views | SgorioFruit | Bournemouth are playing now at home against arsenal and put 3 at the back. Under Paul clement we played Watford at home with 5 at the back. Scared of the opposition before we even kicked off. AT HOME This has what’s relegated us. Well that and being poorly run.

Looked back the last 3 years. Last year, 35 would get you safe. The year before, 37. Year before that, 35. 37/38 should be enough most season........the magical 40, virtually guarantees safety.

Historically, yes (almost). What you fail to understand is that every time a rival wins it makes our task psychologically much more difficult. Players or managers may say they don't look at the table but in reality they do. And when they see the gap widening, every game has that much more pressure put on it. So in a nutshell, it matters a lot what other teams around us are doing!!
