Just sat and watched this. I would like to say this is the best film I have seen for a long time. But then I would be a liar. An absolute mess of a film.

I agree. Extremely disappointing. It's prequel level bad at times.
For me it's worse. Mainly because it is destroying the characters of the original trilogy. The second set of three didn't really do anything for me, but they were just puff piece build up of already established characters, and all to predictable because you know the end goal (even more so if you read any of the series.
The last few in the universe are just complete garbage. I watch them out of nostalgia, but this one was just off the charts absurdity.

If you boys were about eight years of age and part of the target audience you'd have enjoyed it....
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Grew up with Star Wars and I had high hopes for this, but left the cinema feeling a bit flat? Too long, and I can’t help feeling that there isn’t a story there? It’s just a 2.5 hour toy advert? I’ve usually found positives in all the previous films, but I’m struggling with this one...
Some unnecessary characters and locations, some cringe-inducing scenes, and about half an hour too long. A lot of chaff but much more wheat. Some great characters and locations, fantastic scenes, and two hours of enjoyment and fan service.
The originals were great but just as flawed. The past is remembered too fondly, the present too critically.

Loved every second of it. Can’t wait to see it again.
There seems to be an awful lot of hate for this film going around. I think it’s the best one yet. And I saw A New Hope when it was just Star Wars, in the Windsor in Neath 1970’s!
"Who scored that Naughty?", "I don't know, I've forgotten my bl**dy glasses again!".

My son and I loved it.Granted there was a few daft bits but overall it was great .
Seems like it's the fashionable thing to be the edgelord in this situation and criticise everything.
Can't wait to see it again.
Not edgy, just honest.
Half expected the Casino scenes (whole of that storyline was pointless and irrlevant to be honest) to break out into a Beauty and the Beast style musical number they were so cheesy. Luke tugging off a manatee, before his hologram adorns Grecian 2000? Really?
The plot-line was a garbled mess and makes no sense at all. Destroyed a potentially great antagonist too.

I can't help it though, as this guy points it out to me......
I'm stunned there hasn't been an outcry by feminists about the theme of stereotypical bad driving by women either. Laura Dern (as Leia's purple haired "close friend") causing billions of credits of vehicle damage with a head on crash which could have been avoided by doing the same thing with a smaller vehicle, and on autopilot. The only thing missing from the scene to really fully perpetuate the stereotype would be if she was pictured adjusting her lipstick in the rear-view mirror just before impact.
The other incident is when a crazy stalker jumps lanes (also perpetuating the stereotype of East Asian drivers being poor and inconsiderate) and crashes into a man to get his attention in the middle of a mission. This is extremely "problematic" as it outlines three stereotypes, the one mentioned above, the dangerous nature of female drivers and the irrationality of females on the battlefield and their efficiency.
As long as Hollywood keeps perpetuating these stereotypes, the world will remain a bleaker place. For shame Star Wars director, for shame.
I saw it last night, Mrs Icecold was bored after 1,5 hrs i enjoyed it very much however . They have done a decent job in at least trying to tie in the old cast. They are much improved since Disney bought the rights.
Just gotta leave the Brain at the foyer when watching movies these days, easy to pick holes in any film .
Overall a very decent movie for me .

They should have given the Asian a stereotypical small penis...even though she's a girl
