By needing someone else to drop points - it means it is not in our own hands.

They are 6 points ahead of us with better GD (so essentially 7 points ahead) with 3 games left a surely you can see that saying its in our own hands is extremely nonsensical??

Hull are unbeaten at home since boxing day, their manager hasnt lost at home in 3 years, 2 points ahead of us with some winnable games ahead and you say if we win our next game then we are safe??

I think this whole attitude is extremely dangerous to have. I understand you are trying to be positive but this level of blind optimism being passed off as realism when its as far away from realism as you can get could be damaging if it catches on.

We are in one hell of a scrap and even winning 2 of 3 would only give us a coin flip chance of surviving.

Dangerous!?!?

We can do no more than win our games and hope others don't. What's dangerous about that pattern of thought?

One thing for sure is that it us a bloody odd league this year. It is truly now a top 7 with a fourteen point gap between Everton and the team below.
Yet at the same time we could be heading for one of the highest points total for survival ever.
If we and Hull tear up trees in the last three games then half the division is in danger. Bonkers, despite it looking like it is us or Hull it is no way impossible for any of these to lose three on the bounce.

That isn't the pattern of thought here though is it? The pattern of thought is that if we beat Everton then we are safe and it makes no difference what others do. That is an incredible dangerous line of thinking if it spreads because it simply is not true or anywhere close to being so.

Ok. It's not the way I read it. I see it that, although not technically so, if we win all three it's very likely we'll stay up,

At the beginning of the season I would agree. But everything has to be judged on its own merit when you actually get to the end of the season. Didnt Blackpool get relegated on 40 points? Some seasons the target gets huge and this has all the characteristics of that, in which case 40 point mark goes out the window.

40 points for Hull is winning 2 of next 3 (Sunderland and Palace)
40 points for Palace is 2 draws.

Hardly a mammoth task for either.

not if Hull win all 3

If both us and Hull win all three, Palace have to win at either City or United.

I don't think either of us will win all three, but if we do, we will probably both stay up.

I don't think Poch would want a return of that and I think the players will have it in their minds too.

Dream scenario is that we win our next 2 and Hull lose the next 2. Not going to happen but would love it if it did.

Win next Saturday puts pressure on Hull who will be playing a team playing for nothing other than contracts.

Hull play Sunderland before we play Everton. They'll see their earlier kick off as an amazing opportunity to put an immense amount of pressure on us to beat Everton. If they win we'll be five points behind them going into our own game. Conversely, if Sunderland can get something at Hull it should give us a big boost before we kick off.

F*ck knows. We've given ourselves a sniff of a chance today but no more than that. We're still deep in the mire and firm favourites to go down. It would have been different of course if it weren't for Rashford the cheat and Swarbrick the c*nt robbing us of two vital points.

And our run of 1 point from 6 games.

It really is a bonus being in with a chance, and whilst I agree with the non penalty today.

Our league position is self inflicted

I agree but I'm struggling with bigger picture stuff at the moment. I can't get the image of Rashford's cheating and Swarbrick's subsequent incompetence/corruption out of my head.

Too true a damn good result and performance today but damn bittersweet to the max IMO, why, why, why did the team switch off and go into half hearted mode in games not so long back.

Why was desperately required team strengthening delayed.

Why was Bradley ever appointed.

The team is in an easily and totally preventable situation.

So f#cking annoying! Kamikaze lunacy!

I wouldn't be so sure. Teams who have been relegated early have a funny habit of turning it on and playing without fear in their next game.

I've a sneaky feeling they are going to upset Hull.

It's the way of the football world.

Big club home decisions.

I couldn't see us going on a 5 win run.

Now it's just a 3 win run.......................... more achievable

Llorente not throwing his head at that free kick is more of a gutter. There couldn't have been much more than 5 minutes of normal time left.

Problem is they then go into their last home game of the season against us, with wanting to give their fans something
