One thing against Guidolin 16:54 - Oct 1 with 2427 views | Darran | Can you imagine him going in the dressing room after the game and wiping the floor with certain players like Ki for instance? Just asking a question because I'm sure we all agree he comes across as a nice man,too nice perhaps?

I do | |

One thing against Guidolin on 17:23 - Oct 1 with 513 views | Cooperman | I can't see him wiping the floor. I'm also struggling to see him giving a passionate and inspiring team talk. He still struggles with some of the fundamentals of the English language, through no fault of his own might I add. His coaches will support delivery of the tactical message but getting 'stuck in' needs to come from the man in charge.

One thing against Guidolin on 17:22 - Oct 1 by londonlisa2001 | Yeah - we know - that's why you've been agitating against him all week. I'm not being funny Darran, and it gives me no pleasure to say it, but if I go into Boots and get my make-up done and I don't look like Angelina Jolie at the end of it, it's not the makeup artist's fault. Going to a different one still won't make me look like her. (It goes without saying it won't be far off, of course...) |
That's no comparison to football though Lis. (even though you probably would look fab)

It's a bloody analogy mun ! If the raw materials are not there, then no amount of mucking about with it will make it look like they are. (And of course I would)!!

One thing against Guidolin on 17:19 - Oct 1 by Darran | Do you think another manager might be able to get more out of the players then Nige? |
Possibly. But that wasn't your original question. Losing Ashley and Ayew who were two big players last season was a big blow to Guidolin. He's caught up in the transitional phase our club is going through and like most fans I'm unhappy with the ownership change. The club is lacking direction now. From the top. We have made a profit from transfers at the time we needed to be strengthening the team not making it weaker. The Managers hands were tied. I can't see him being here much longer but that is a worry....

Not really. 1 to 11 we're strong enough. Our problem with the squad is it's not big enough. No competition for places.

No Landore_Jack said it Nigel and then I asked you. He knew what he was taking on and for him to come out on the day he signed a new contract and say he would have no input into transfers is bizarre. I completely agree with the rest of what you're saying.

It is virtually always the case in football. That's why the same teams are up the top every season barring a very very odd series of events (as last season was).

Even if you were correct about 1 to 11 (and I disagree with you as I think we have glaring weaknesses in that), then your second sentence confirms what I just said - the squad is not good enough.

One thing against Guidolin on 17:20 - Oct 1 by Darran | So you don't think any other manager out there might be able to get more out of the players then? |
I think there are loads of managers out there that can get a tune out of the squad but as we all know none of them fit the profile of "cheap as chips" and even less will want to be restricted by huw Jenkins. I thought we all knew this ? It's not the manager as much as it's a constant poor recruitment and a selling off of the stronger better players . When you regress so does the type of managerial candidate you attract. Sousa,Rodgers , Laudrup all progressive and positive monk and Guido reactive and knee jerk. The manager appointments represent the club perfectly, giggs coming in would seal the incompetence IMO

Its blatantly obvious the squad is to thin, that's always been the case since we've been in this league. The manager does have a good enough 1 to 11 to be doing better than he is.

Yes rather encouraging Stephen and if he's still in charge against Arsenal next time out I wonder how we'll set up.

You keep saying, but saying doesn't make it so. There is no combination of wingers at the club that is good enough. There is no combination of full backs that is good enough. There is no combination at holding midfield that is good enough. Until the last week I would have said there is no combination at centre back, but to be fair, VDH has done very well.
One thing against Guidolin on 17:41 - Oct 1 with 374 views | FearOfAJackPlanet | Whether there are better managers in the world than FG isn't the question we're asking though. It's whether there are any who would be willing to come here and who are available now. And is it worth taking the risk at the moment?
