The Reality of JFH 23:21 - Sep 13 with 6634 viewsDWQPR

Is that he is starting to show that he is completely out of his depth. Tonight was nothing short of a total disgrace. Forget about Newcastle being able to spend £50million this summer and have Rafa Benetiz as manager, I have seen many a non-league side play against PL sides and give a decent account of themselves and walk off the pitch with their heads held high, whatever the score.

Tonight, literally from the fifth minute onwards when we were lucky to get away with the disallowed goal we were a shambles, five defenders on the pitch didn't know who to pick up, two defensive midfielders playing so deep that Shelvey had all of west London to play in, and Yeni, Chery and Washington totally cut adrift. And let's be honest, 6-0 flattered Rangers. This could have been well into double figures had it not been for some poor finishing, some great saves from Smithies and the woodwork. Yes Newcastle are a good side, but they are a team in our league, playing at our ground against a QPR side that Hasselbaink evidently has turned into a 'pressing team'.

Quite frankly his management is woeful and this season will quickly develop into a relegation battle. Before tonight we had played the bottom three at home. Beat Leeds comfortably, lost to Preston, comfortably and didn't even have a shot until the 58th minute, looked knackered and totally bereft of ideas, playing a defensive central midfielder on the right wing, and on Saturday against rock bottom Blackburn, and forget about Hasselbaink saying that their keeper made some great saves, he doesn't mention that Bidwell made two unbelievable goal line clearances, we could have easily lost by two or three, and nobody would have denied that Blackburn would have deserved it.

But tonight was pitiful. A team not built on a pressing game but instead the negativity of a poor manager who hasn't got a clue on how to set up a team. A type of player that we missed tonight was someone who could put his foot on the ball and pick a pass, someone like Alé Faurlin, yet he gets rid of him and retains Karl Henry who if he went any further back with his passing he would be serving the beers in the Loft. I do believe that we have the makings of a decent team, but to make a decent team we need a decent manager. Look back to Gigi Di Canio, look how he got Rangers players, with lesser players than we have now, we played some outstanding football under him, yes we let in some goals too, but he dragged us off the bottom of the league to finish mid-table and he knew how to get the midfield moving forward and creating and scoring.

Neil Warnock recognised the players we needed, the likes of Hill and Derry, who we all groaned about, but provided the experience and pragmatism to the flamboyancy ahead of them, they both knew how to manage and set a team up.

The last time I saw Rangers get beaten at home was against Arsenal in the Cup in 2001. That Arsenal team contained the likes of Vierra and Henry and we included the likes of Lee Harper in goal and George Kulscar. Losing against that Arsenal side wasn't a disgrace given the state the club was in at the time, and the fact that Arsenal were at the zenith of their powers. Tonight is nothing like then, tonight was a disgrace and Hasselbaink for all his dull, boring, negative tactics should now go. Thank fûck that he is only on a rolling one year contract. Now get Warnock back for the rest of the season, he can still do it. Just ask any Rotherham fan.

I was there , it was awful.. .

It was just one game in a season of 46 . There are plenty of games and points to play for and to achieve what a consensus of this board expected for the season IE around 7th or 8th .

I felt that there were two incidents that brought out this defensive minded approach in last night's game. The first was in the first half when we conceded a free kick (poss. offside) near their box. When play restarted we were all not only in our own half, but also nearly in our own quarter. So far back were we getting ready for them that Newcastle had plenty of time to move the ball around and into our half.

The second was when Newcastle had altered their tactics midway through the second half and started to allow us more space. To me Benitez wanted to try out some defensive positioning and it was a perfect time to do it. Anyway, Ned gets the ball on the right with, well, acres of space. However, and this may be more Ned than anything else, he had no idea what to do or there was no one to pass to and eventually the ball went backwards instead of Ned charging forward with it.

However, there is another question that has been nagging in my mind. Substitutions, or a distinct lack of them. I am not a manager and will leave that to JFH but on a warm evening with obvious problems there is a lack of subs being made. This has continued throughout the season so far. It appears that JFH hates making subs.

We have a new squad again so we need to allow the playees especially the foreign ones tk settle in the worst thing we could do now is sack another manager

Yes it's been poor and boring but we have to stick with a manager it's a long season

Massive pressure on Jimmy now!... We need to see a big improvement on Saturday or it could get really ugly at the Sunderland match.
I really like Jimmy but, as you say, last night was unacceptable....
Neil Warnock gets my shout but only if we are in the bottom 3 at Christmas!

Give him until December and only then if QPR are in the bottom 5 would I consider sacking the bloke.

There is still plenty of time to turn things around, even under Holloway's playoff season we went through an awful spell where the team looked like they'd struggle to beat an egg.
It's a new squad, JFH does not know his best team yet, but you have to give him more time.

But having said that...can Warnock come in as an adviser?....

great points DW this isn't an isolated one off game , this has been coming since that Leeds game , the football is awful, really bad , and that also goes back to last year
we don't have anyone to take any one on we don't have a midfielder to put his foot on the ball and pick a pass , we cannot score in open play, we don't have any recognised specialist right back , our fullbacks are slow, we still play karl fcukin henry
oh and we play one up top ,
its sh1t proper sh1t
the way JFH has been going on you would think we were Blyth spartens taking on Man Utd , id give him 5 more games

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Have to agree with DW that last nights performance was embarassing, to the point you were just wanting the final whistle all the way through the second half. When we were going to the game I was convinced we were going to loose it was just by what score line and my 4-0 prediction was not far wrong. As DW says it was the manner of the defeat, the way we were never really in the game, chasing shadows whilst Newcastle pinged the ball around and Shelvey filled his boots and we made him look world class.

The issue isn't last nights game it's the way we performed against Preston and Blackburn that is the biggest concern. We all know it's early in the season and we have a new squad who need time to build and that foreign players invariably do not hit the ground running and need that extra time to acclimatise to the Championship.
However early in the season those results could well come back to bite us proverbially in the arris, the form book always says that a team needs to win a high percentage of their home games to even avoid relegation.

Last night was always going to be a defeat, we went into the game having performed poorly against Blackburn and then played a team who on paper should walk the Championship.

Personally I want JFH to be given every chance and it's far too early to be talking about giving him the tin tack but it's so tempting when you think Warnock might be an option, his history with us speaks for itself and his transformation of a weak Rotherham squad last year was nothing short of miraculous.

I think JFH is correct we do lack quality in our current squad when compared to Newcastle but we have to stick with what we have for the next 3.5 months, grind out some results and try and keep away from the bottom three.

It's a funny old game if we go to Huddersfield and put in a decent display everything will seem a lot more positive. My gut feeling is we need to stick with JFH at the moment he's not had a reasonable amount of time with his current squad and there's new players not even considered up to speed sitting on the bench.

Onuoha rarely passes the ball forward - always takes a touch and 85% of the time passes it back to someone else. Never a right-back in a million years and is lucky to call himself a professional footballer! I would bomb him out of the team.

Spot on.

With a midfield incapable of making runs or putting their foot on the ball you would have thought the better option would be to bypass them but he will not have a go at 2 up front.

Silla and Polter up top is JFH best chance of hanging on to the job, do it from the start and show some willingness to stick with it.

At this stage we've lost to Newcastle (who are most people's favourites to go straight back up), Barnsley (who are clearly on a good run against everyone and on level points with Newcastle) and Preston who finished above us last season (and presumably must be asking far more questions about their own teams performances than we are).
So I don't think it's time to man the lifeboats quite yet. But I do wonder what the "club style" is that we are rebuilding for, because at the moment it is neither entertaining nor consistent.

100% of people who drink water will die.

It may be just one game out of 46 Essex but it was one game that according to Clive was the heaviest home defeat in the whole of the history of the club. To be there as a QPR fan last night was mind-numbing,dispiriting and embarrassing. I still don't have any time for the morons who boo their own team and at one point last night rather took my life In my hands somewhat when I turned round to a cretin behind me who was attempting to start the "We're fckuing sh-t" chant and told him to shut up.
Newcastle gave probably the best performance I've seen at LR from any Championship team ever. I reckon they are a far better team than their last promotion side that went up with 100 points. I thought we'd probably get a hammering before the game but was still taken aback by the degree of the humiliation.
It isn't last night's result that's going to sink us though. It's getting one point from 6 out of two home games against the bottom 2 in the table that's going to cost us in the long run We're in free fall now and I am really hoping for some evidence that JFH knows what the hell he is doing and is capable of turning things round before we sink much deeper.
