Bony 13:18 - Aug 1 with 7776 views | Millie | Should we push the boat out and go and get Wilfried Bony? For me, he knows our game and would live to see the Gylfi/ Bony link up again

Bony on 17:23 - Aug 1 by stid | The club will be doing everything they can to get Wilf back but the problem is will he come back? Getting Ayew off the books to give him the wages he wants is a start though |
I genuinely don't see why they should. There are other players available that would cost less, are younger, and may suit us more. Ayew is better for us than Bony at the moment as he offers more flexibility and is also a very good finisher. If he doesn't want to stay, then we need to look again, but quite why Bony is always mentioned is beyond me. As much as anything, getting in a player that we don't lose for 4 weeks or whatever in the busy part of the season would be preferable given our lack of options up front. Edited to add- and we've already got 'his wages' off our books this close season with Paloschi, Eder and Gomis combined all leaving so not sure why we have to do so again. Ayew better option that Bony? I have seen some rubbish on here over the last week and that is right up there. Na your right lets go spend 20 odd Million on a unknown ST because we dont know what we are getting with Bony do we.

Better for us at the moment is what I said. Is a good finisher (as is Bony) but offers more flexibility since we have a shortage of forward options. And I didn't say lets go and spend £20m on an unknown striker. And actually, we don't know what we're getting with Bony. We know what he was 18 months ago, but not now, no.

I'd never ever ever put Ayew ahead of Bony as a striker. Flexibility or not never. Wilf is ten times the striker that Ayew is and one of the best in Europe if played to his strengths.

Flexibility? He cannot play out wide and at times last season was played simple as he was un drop-able.

If he was one of the best in Europe we wouldn't be having conversations about whether or not he is coming back to us because Man City owe us £8m from his original transfer. He was great when he was with us, but let's get real.

Bony on 17:03 - Aug 1 by jack247 | Is he going to cost £100k though? Surely City would prefer to contribute half than all of it if he isn't getting near their team. Can't see him coming here either way |
It doesn't look like he is part of City's future plans, I can't see that any of the big PL teams would want him, so that just leaves the rest of the teams who are unlikely to spend over £20M and pay someone £100K a week. The only other possible interest might be Everton if they lost Lukaku.

Sure is a good player when we are playing a false 9, but with a genuine centre forward in the side, actual wingers on the wings and a good AM like Gylfi, it's difficult to see where he fits in. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If you buy Neymar and put him in the stiffs he's not going to be one of the best is he? Man City don't play to his strengths, simple as that.

Certainly, for our style, he is/was perfectly suited. Being Agueros bitch doesn't suit him. If he is not the focal point of an attack he is going to struggle. He isn't mobile enough for the way they wanted him to play. As I've said before though, we won't sign him because the financial demands will be high and our board don't seem to want to invest real money in the team.

Well now that it looks like Ash is going I would say yes.....we need him in defence at set pieces...he was always our best centre half at corners

What's clear is he has to have consistent game time to be sharp. When he doesn't play he needs a while to get up to speed. It's interesting that nobody seems to mention that he missed most of last year's pre season with malaria. That's a pretty big mitigating factor if you ask me...

I don't think he'd struggle for that given our current striking options 😜

if the finances were right and he wanted to come back it's a 100% no brainer. Pure class for us
