The leave vote will give the elite more confidence in pushing forward a more laissez faire attitude. On the other hand there seems to be plenty of Europeans who want to work and live in the UK. . . This is an issue to do with global capitalism. Something the EU has no f*cking clue how to deal with.

Why are British people so thick and ignorant on 21:02 - Jun 25 by stevejg73 | I’ve read this site with interest and no little amusement for a number of years without ever feeling the need to post — until now. I find myself posting, not in regards to football, but to defend myself and others against accusations of racism, bigotry, stupidity, xenophobia etc… I was born in Swansea serve in the armed forces, live just outside Oxford and am studying for an MA at Kings College London, I consider myself well positioned to make an informed decision based on the available information. I’m not filled with fear or pessimism regards our future, rather I see this as an exciting opportunity to engage with the world on terms that we best serve our expectations, we will continue to cooperate in areas of defence and security, as we will in science and technology, and we will continue to trade with Europe and the rest of the world. We are not isolating ourselves. Now is not the time for petty name calling, (it says more about the people doing the name calling than those that voted out) the referendum has been run and a decision made. Now is the time for calmness prior to a period of negotiation, and at the end of those negotiations I am positive we will be in a strong position. I also believe that this referendum will act as a catalyst that will see the emergence of a better, fairer, and more democratic Europe that will serve the interests of the people of Europe. That’s enough from me, probably my one and only post (forums are more of a spectator sport for me!). Performance aside, great night for Welsh football bring on the quarters! |

Oh well done, let me guess a Loggie, you talk of trade with Europe but guess what, if they say no except for a very large fee then that is what it is and the cost is greater than it was before. Before you bring in the fact that Germany exports so much to us and therefore "needs our market" I must remind you Germany is one of, if not the actual, world's greatest economies and does this by leaving dead markets/products and finding new ones. So if needed (admittedly with a couple of years to adjust) they can drop the UK market and find another market - niche or otherwise. Good luck with your MA (and your future) but ultimately it means feckall in this context - but please feel free to post more often as without differing views we are a bit screwed.

We have left them in economic chaos.. refusing our trade, would have catastrophic consequences to their economy. It would also cost economic migrants a livelihood, and leave Europe worse off.. Europe have been playing with a giant for too long..

To disagree and discuss is fine, I can respect your opinion but disagree without the petty name calling or making assumptions about you as a person. There's lots of speculation at the moment, and in reality nobody knows what's going to happen. Djack, what if we get a favourable trade deal with Germany and others? We can all ask speculative questions and provide the answers to suit our argument. The only reason I mentioned my background was to dismiss the claim that all those that voted out are racist, uneducated, ignorant people.

Cheers mate, I have to point out that your background is nought as you only substantiated one of three... You can still be a racist and or with/ without an MA... Not that I'm saying you are (I'm not) but the MA proves nothing. As to "What if we get a favourable deal" ... Yes what if! Without speculation, we both know Germany is great at re-tooling and retraining and thus insulating itself from the throes of glabal dissonance. They don't need to give a favourable trade deal - fact not speculation, but we must hope that Germany will help rather than hinder a partner with similar interests even if that does not include Europe or whatever. Welcome to the board of insanity.
